You go man! I spent 4 days last week building fence, designing and installing a stair rail baluster system and doing insulation in an attic and building a retaining wall at the kids place. I’m still tired so I understand the “I’m pooped” line!

Other than the big eye looks and the physical hassle of getting 2 back packs, 2 carry on bags and 4 large gun/ archery cases moved through the busy airport traveler traffic, traveling with all these was less hassle than when I travelled through the same airport and got snagged for having a set of single action grips and a bare grip frame in my bag.

I have an old model Super Single Six with both cylinders down at Ronnie's right now that will be getting that same hammer plus whatever else he wants to add. The proper hammer for any single action!

Being a converted Ruger fan I do not have near the breadth of experience many of you have with fine handguns. That said, of the guns I’ve owned I would put the F/A 41 I ordered, my US built USFA guns, a special edition python and the early 3 digit S&W triple lock I had at the top of my list.

We kept the kids guns and safe while they were stationed in England as well. Throw in deployment long dog sitting and even having a daughter and one year old grandson live with us for a year while the S-I-L was deployed and one learns that military life impacts the whole family, no matter how old they get.

The wife and I fly home in about an hour after working at the kids place for a week before they move. Since the military contract movers won’t move firearms or ammo we have done some creative shuttling in the past. This trip was no different. Coming out I checked a hard bag full of tools I knew I’d need and a box that held a hold 4’ level and stair case materials. Going home I traded those two bags for three FULL hard sided gun cases and a large case with Rems bow and archery gear.
When I rolled the cart with all four cases and said three were full of firearms the ticket agent asked if I really had those full of guns?🤣 Yes ma’am, they are but that’s okay because the last one just had a bow and arrows!
After I set the tag inside each case ( more bug eyes from others as each case has to be opened right at the ticket counter) it’s off to the TSA screening xray machine. More bug eyes, “ how many? etc. “ One of the bag handlers wanted to watch the screen to see if there were really that many guns and when Guevara kne passed inspection he came back to me with a big grin and said “ hey it looks like there is a 911 (1911) and some real old west John Wayne and Matt Dillon pistols in there! After which he gave a big grin and motioned like he was fanning an SA hammer!🤣 All I could do was grin and thank him for putting the cases on the machine!
Next up is a NM road trip in 5 weeks to delivery the booty to their new base home. I sure hope none of those customs I’ve given him don’t jump back into my safe!

I just about tossed a bid on the flat top but the brass framed one from last week hasn’t even landed yet so I passed.

Boy the “ No shooting in DC “ is the truth! I fly out of Reagan National tomorrow night and will be glad to get back to Oregon as messed up as it is. I leave a knife at each of the kids houses so I have one when I visit but in DC but seems like every building you go into is like going through TSA! I got so tired of emptying pockets just to get to a food court to get a sandwich I started looking for an outside bench and let the rest of the family submit. Other than the kids and grandson bring here, no reason to come back in my book.

It was not as tall as the Washington Monument which we went up a few months again but the monument only has a few very small windows at the top so the view is much more restricted.
After lunch at a 150 year old restaurant/bar we headed to our scheduled tour of the National Cathedral. Amazing architecture and construction along with beautiful stained glass windows but really just another big building to check off the list.

We finished the house repairs at the kids house so Remington took both sets of parents on a little tour today. Right now we are in the top floor of “The View” here in Arlington which has a glass enclosed observation deck that gives the best 360* view of the entire area. From the National Cathedral to the north to the Capital Mall with the Presidential Memorials to the east and the Pentagon and A/FMemorial to the south.
Awesome spot if you visit the area!

Well, the sons NM elk hunt may or may not happen. Both sets of parents are out here to work on house projects and celebrate the grandsons second birthday. He came from his bath last night with a shirt one that said “Big Bro” which was their way of telling us we are going to have another grandchild right in the middle of elk season!😄
That was last night. Today they found out we will be getting our first granddaughter! Life is so good!

That’s why some of us dads pick the careers we do. Days like this. Good job dad!
