Dropped this in my back pocket for this morning's dog walk - didn't even notice it was there. S&W M329 Alaskan Backpacker 2.5" Scandium frame w/stainless cylinder. Close to a half pound lighter (and one extra round) vs 2 3/4" M69. The M69 is my current favorite .44 however. Paul

Love the Rockies, and big bore snubbies that find a home there.

Here is a good recent find, at Cabela's too none the less. It was my birthday Saturday and the fiancé and I went out to dinner/shopping. Stopped in the Wheeling Cabela's because I can't stand not looking in the gun library if I'm anywhere in the same state as it. Mostly high priced beat up stuff but occasionally I see something I'd like to have. I always pass though because it's out of state and I'd have to have any handguns shipped to PA. This model 65-3 is a little beat up but with a $419 price tag I almost broke my arm getting my wallet out. I figure even with tax, shipping, and transfer I'd still be under $500. Best part about it is they shipped it free so now I'm well under five bills. 3 inch 65s are getting really pricey, I paid a lot more for my 65-5 because I figured it would be the only one I would see for a while. Well I was a little wrong but I'm glad I have each one.

I just recently picked up this model 60-10 chiefs special target. This has been a grail gun of mine since I first saw one a few years ago. I was two minutes too late when it sold. I looked for years and just about the time I feel like I have enough guns one shows up. One of my favorite .357s.... Have had two of them for over 20 years. One is just like yours and the other is the same but Mag-Na-Ported. Turned out to be one of the Lew Horton "Little Hunters" of which they made something like 250. Makes a great fishing and backpacking companion... Bob

This dern thread is bringing me back around to wanting a 480 Alaskan again. A couple years back I got to handle a 44mag and yikes ! A boat anchor kinda thing. My thoughts for guns meant for serious use is they might as well be in the biggest bore they can be made. A few days ago in a very nice Tampa gun store got to handle a 454 version and the larger holes made quite some difference and I got to better judge if my medium sized hands could handle the large gun. Get a decent bite of the trigger without compromising my grip. Am assuming the 480 version a bit lighter yet. Hmmnnn.. Getting closer and closer.

I couldn't resist any longer ! Yup, a 480 Alaskan now lives here. Not a moment too soon, the bears are getting thicker every year. And I just plain WANTED one. It came home with me last night. As soon as it is a decent hour to make that kinda noise..KaBooom !

Mine is ejecting fine. An issue dodged. A happy sigh.. I may have spoke too soon. I'm taking back that happy sigh and venting a bunch of foul words Lee wouldn't appreciate seeing here. With the 275gr HP and 14grs of CFE-P fired one st a time and cleaning in between no problem. Put several TB loads thru and no issue. One at a time with 325 SP and 13.5grs of PP that the BSBH's like, then two in cylinder and fired...and now ejection issue here. I cleaned and lubed before first firing including ejection rod on both sides of cylinder, pushed this way then that to expose, to lube. Unhappy sigh. Been a bad couple of weeks and really just needed SOMETHING to go right. It is now the cleanest gun in 3 counties and I'll try again tomorrow. I'd like to send the CEO a nice wedgie right now. E-mail ain't gonna cut it. Time to walk away right now.. The snubby M69 holstered..

I have been busy, recently, adding an S&W Ladysmith .32 H&R J-snub, an S&W 64-2 K-snub, and a Ruger Speed Six snub, all well-preserved, and with nice actions. A nice 2” Model 64 snub-gun had been a kind of grail-quest, for a while, and I am always looking at every Speed Six I can find.
The little .32 J-snub is more of a pretty thing to keep around the house, but the K-snub and Speed Six are for carry. Being retired from “peace officering,” I am gravitating toward medium-frame revolvers for normal daily carry.

Found a pretty nice 15-2v 2.5 inch last week I really love these 15s. For what 586s go for why not?

Those are some handsome revolvers!
The S&W 36 has always been a favorite of mine, though oddly, I have never actually owned one. I do have a model 37 airweight which is a joy to carry, and a model 60 which is basically a SS version of the 36. The 60 being a bit more fun to shoot, five shots in s 3" circle at 10 yds is easily achieved. I just love the utter simplicity and reliability of the little revolvers. If I was to carry a semi auto it would be my Colt Light Weight Commander in .38 Super; 10 shots and 28 ounces.
