Paid $500 for a 1980 Suzuki GS450L. It runs fine and is of course a beater bike. The perfect thing for my Zombie/SHTF Madmax Day Dreaming mind.... also perfect for a starter bike for me since I've never owned one. It's already rusted, scratched, beaten, and dented. So me dropping it in traffic will be an improvement on it! All in all.... I can now cruise South Beach in 1980s style. How long before I get killed on it?

In trouble for the predicted crash or for the boss discovering your purchase (a bike is harder to sneak into a safe and hide)...?
If you're concerned about a crash, it's easy. All you have to do is keep the rubber side down. It' s just that easy!
Enjoy the ride, we're all just unripe worm food!

Have you taken a rider course yet?? If not, please take one BEFORE you hit the streets. I have been on 2 wheels for the last 26 years and have taken every class offered at least once. I will do the advanced class next year when I am 45, and if I'm lucky will ride another 10 to 15 years. I love my bikes, but I ride them with the same care and precaution as I handle firearms.
As for sneaking a bike in.....I sold a Ducati ST4s to a man a few years back who left it at my shop for 2 weeks until his wife was gone for the day, and then put it in his garage in the middle of his group of 13 other bikes. I saw him a year later and he said she never knew it wasnt always there!! It may be harder, but it can be done!!

Training is a good thing... They will teach you stuff like counter steer that won't come from typical logic. Get as much time in the saddle in the safest environment you can find.. Expect that people DO NOT see you and have a plan in your head of how get out of their way at all times.
Guess it was about 50 years ago when the first two wheeler showed up at the farm.. Started an affliction that continues today. If they get in your blood they will NEVER come out...

Axe you ride motorcycles too? ? Miami the best thing I can tell you is to invest in a MSF course. I've been riding for 25 years, and wouldnt trade it for anything, but you can learn a lifetimes worth of stuff in those classes.

Respect it, like you respect a handgun. If you are don't, it will bite you. If you do, it will bring you joy and pleasure that only those of us on 2 wheels could understand. I for one will never be without a motorcycle and a handgun. They both speak one word to me. FREEDOM!!!

Ride Motorcycles? Oh yes! I like them all. Played with HDs in the 60s and 70s. Developed a need for HP and speed and mixed it with lots of beer in the 80s.. Realized that they wanted to kill me in the 90s. Eye trouble the last few years has kept me off the road a lot but I try to keep a few out in the shop at all times.. VTX1800, SOHC 750, ZL900.... Got a thing for old CJs too...

I love bikes but have come to realize that even in middle age I still have a problem controlling the speed thing. I sold the last one, the Zrx1200R a few years back before I got any more cases of road rash like in the younger days. I just don't grow skin or knit broken bones as well anymore but that stupid right wrist is still strong enough to overcome my brain so I better stick to four wheels or four legs I guess.

"Trouble in controlling my speed" and Hayabusa do NOT bode well for the skin and bone family! Those are one scary bike. I only wish I had ridden one before I stopped riding!

Still have my 86 V-65 Magna,Had a VTX 1800C that I traded (STUPID!!!!!!) for a FJR 1300, because I just had to have a sportbike, awesome bike but Im just not built for the riding position, traded it for a new Yamaha Raider which Im quite happy with. Also have a 02 GL1800 that is my long travel companion. BTW I rode a CBR100XX OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Standing start at top of on ramp, wheelie thru 3 gear hit 120 and was back down to 60 before I had to merge. AND I almost bought a Hayabusa instead of the FJ,test rode one..... Best I can tell HAYABUSA is Japanese for HOLYSHITOHMYGODTHISFRIIGINTHINGWANTSTOKILLME.

'61 Sportster went away when I joined the AF. Stumbled upon nice used 3 cylinder 750 Yamaha in '78 followed by a new '79 XS11 that evolved into a '85 VMAX... That VMAX was something else. Never rode anything that seem to be going so slow at high speeds... My current VTX1800C was an attempt to satisfy my need for speed without that banzai killer stuff... The '73 750 Honda and '85 ZL900 Kaw are just a couple of those things that follow you home... Then there was that '78 Husqvarna 390 OR... Oooooh baby.... It had to find a new home..

SO funny how a bunch of us are all plugged into the same things. It must not be an accident. Guns, girls and bikes, not in that order exactly. I had some BMW issues. I'm about half over it now.lol
