Just about to send the carbs off the '85 ZL900 Kaw off to Texas for a rebuild. Previous owner let it sit way to long... I can coax it into cranking but it won't idle and stops running when I stop shooting fuel into the carbs... I'll drag the thing out and get some pics here in the next week or so..

Ok, since nobody else is posting Vmax pics, here's mine. It's named "Aquamax"...because it spent the night at the bottom of a lake once. I have put 53,943 miles on it since that day. Sorry, I don't have any decent pics of it right now. The Aquamax spends it's off season time in a spare bedroom. ;D

My '85 VMAX will always hold a special place in my two wheeled memories.. Never rode anything that seemed to be so going slow at 100 MPH...

Well my 86 V65 Magna, which I still have,is still the most frightening thing I have ever ridden at 130. Like holding a barn door in a thunderstorm while on a pogo stick.

Not trying to directly knock the V65 Magna, but... That bike has a bunch if inherent flaws. The frame is too thin, forks too thin & most of all, the riding position (weight transfer) position is all wrong & Honda was right to have discontinued the bike after 3 1/2 years. I have ridden two V65's and will never throw a leg over another one. I'm not saying the 1st generation Vmax's don't have their flaws, both bikes share some flexy-frame problems. Like the Vmax, the V65 Magna was mostly designed to go in a straight line. The V65 Sabre was designed as more of a road bike, but the ill handling name of the "V65" was already out of the bag. The V65 Magna does nice burnouts, I'll give it that. But if you have to throw it into a mild turn nearing triple digit speed...you'd better know your stuff, plus have a whole lotta luck! My Aquamax has schooled me on it's limitations a few times & I've come to respect those limitations. However, it feels just fine being laid over into a nice sweeper at 130 & leaves room for more...just don't chop the throttle, or you're gonna have to bring some body english into play. BTW, my Aquamax is the only bike other than an R1, that I can say "I almost never run out of throttle" with. And even an R1 has it's peak after a while...the Vmax will just keep pulling until you chicken out, and that's usually when a turn is looming ahead. LOL!

LOL. You dont have to worry about knocking the V65,I will openly admit to ANYONE all of the flaws that beast posesses. It did what it was sold for pretty well,STRAIGHT LINE. I wanted a Sabre instead of the Magna but I just couldnt pass the one I have up. At about 130 the Magna is done, still pulls hard but starts a wicked wobble, the frame and forks freeking flex bad, bobs and weaves thru corners. I never realised how horrible that bike was untill I bought my VTX1800. and its far from being a corner carver.

Very nice waterboy! Good to finally see a bike thread on a non-bike forum with a display of style and class. Love the older Brit style! Speed...I ride to enjoy what stuff I pass not shorten my lifespan and bring misery and emotional pain to my friends and family. Training...yeah, get some. It's never a bad thing to take a course to learn something or just have as a refresher. Complacency hits everyone after a while.

See....I knew you guys were OK... Since everyone else is posting pics, I figure I will show off some of the reasons that I don't own as many six shooters as I need... Home built V-8 cruiser. Powered by a 383 Stroker puttin out about 430HP. Actually would have worked out better with a higher RPM, lower torque motor. This one is the daily rider...2005 Victory Hammer. Pretty much stock except for intake and exhaust and a few custom parts that I made. And this one is the street racer. 2003 Victory Vegas. The engine is now 104ci and as can be seen in the photos, she is wearing forced induction by way of turbo. She makes about 190hp and is a real monster when ya get over about 2800RPM

cubdriver, I say so far you are the winner of the cigar. I thought I used to have a "need for speed", but from the looks of your rides I don't know the meaning of the term.
Will be hiding & waiting for UPS to get here today, getting a new set of wire wheels for my Fatboy. Billet hubs, stainless spokes, & premium chrome american made rims. Sold a Redhawk to get them, but finally gonna get the dish pan wheels off my ride. Maybe then it will be worthy of a pic.
