Stock guns generally run every primer I've tried well. Tuned actions can be picky. Personal experience tells me that Federal Primers suit my guns best. I actually like CCI Primers in my magnum pistol cartridges. I had 10,000 Remington pistol primers a few years back. Paper punchers did NOT like them. Same but not quite as bad, with Winchester. I see killer deals on inported primers. Winchesters primer are available and much cheaper than Federal. Can't be cheap enough if the guns won't run with them.

Here, here! I'll second that.
I do make it a point to tune my revolvers, particularly those using SMALL primers, so they will reliably set off CCI rifle primers. All but a recently ditched Taurus 605 would reliably set off Wolff "Magnum" SRPs, which weren't really magnums primers, just a thicker cup to reduce slam-fires in semi-auto guns.
I've had very good lick with S&B primers, but don't see them anywhere right now. Last seal I got on primers was $24/k on CCIs Spring of 2020.
Most guys I know who have revolvers tuned to shoot competitively dote on Federal primers. Their guns won't set anything else off reliably.

I've used mostly Winchester primers for a lot of years. Being an OLD IPSC shooter, we've popped a bunch of them since we started competing in 1977. Never had an ignition problem in either autos or revolvers and they feed reliably when loading on our 2 Dillon 550s and a 650.

Could you say where you are finding "killer deals" on imported primers? I would very much like to know.

I think saw foreign spp. 5000 for 350. 70 a brick is not good price by my standards. I miss the $35 bricks I passed up all over the place.

I'm thinking that $70 for 1K primers is the new normal - at least for SPP and SRP. LRP and LPP go for about $120 or more, from what I see, when they're available. The days of paying $35 per 1K for primers are gone forever, IMHO.

Maybe $35 is gone but I predict the return of $50 in the next year and a half if the political situation stabalizes

I found two boxes ea of 1000 CCI 400 primers, both had a price sticker on them of $8.00 a brick, lol. I'd love to see the return of $50 bricks but a buddy just paid $130 last night for a brick of WLRP!!! He was lucky to find them. All I ever see locally are SP or SR primers. Guess I'll be shooting my .32's a lot more often this year!

Federal LP or SP for $110 here. Maintaining a 5000 count stash of each. Winchester SP for $70. See 1500 SP Fiocchi for $100. May pick up a box to try.

I'm not shooting a few hundred a week now, that's for certain. I'm down to 3-400 a month.

I think we will be very lucky to ever see $50 primers again, pretty sure those days are gone. That's for a brick of CCI, Winchester or Remington. It's around $70 most places here.

Dick I tend to agree. True, the political climate could change things up. However 5 years have passed since anybody has purchased at that price. Since then inflation has us routinely paying an additional 30-40% for items that are much more mundane such as a dozen eggs or lumber. It's called "sticky" inflation for a reason: it is not coming back down.

I've bought CCI SP twice in the last month for $5.99 per hundred pack at Sportsman's Warehouse. I buy 200 every time I'm in town & have Callshot do the same for me. Keeps me from using my stash.

...See 1500 SP Fiocchi for $100. May pick up a box to try. ...you will not be disappointed, sir: the cost here today of the CCI, which I have always used, not to mention their availability, has made Fiocchi an obligatory choice for me, but I don't regret the change
