CcI 300 are by far my favorite large pistol primers. Ive shot the foreign ones. They worked good. But never found a steady supply. I've shot 1000's of Wolf large pistol primers. They weren't a problem to find until certain political party put the ban on Russian products. Not problem with them just like their large rifle primers. One use to be able to order S&Bprimers from Cabela's through the mail. That seemed to go to hell when BassPro took them over. I'm not a big advocate of BassPro.

Availability is sporadic. If one brand is available today, they may not be tomorrow or for many tomorrows. So, I get what's available when I can.

The last few bricks Ive bought were at gunshows. Old stock. 75-100 per 1000. A few years ago I bought 8000 old primers. Mostly Alcan and old yellow box win large pistol mags. Got the lot for $50 from my friends gun shop. Ive shot most of those. No problems. Had real issues getting my primer seater to not imprint the alcans during seating but never set one off. This is all large pistol primers.

Well good while back a father of a good friend I have gave me a bunch of CCI small rifle primer that were the originals in the wooden trays when CCI first started making primers. This were stored in is garage which was a separate wood garage from the house and no care was taken in storing them. This was in Ohio when I lived there. They had to been from the 60's and it was in the 90's when he gave them to me. Every single one of them fired normally. That impressed me considering the condition they were stored under.

...strange to say, but the only primers that gave me repeated misfires due to age were Federal large rifle_

Whatever happen to that place in Texas that was building a plant to exclusively make primers? Expansion Industries, who was supposedly investing millions of dollars into the old Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant to produce primers, performed true to form and the project went away - along with all the money.

I bought about 100# of a “universal” equivalent from expansion industries and it has been very good. They did short me a 5# jug that was never sent though. Now I see why!

I'd love to have the "problem" of sorting small/large primer pocket-brass, like with 45 ACP, with certain other cases. A lot of guys have complained about the situation in 4ACP, but it's turned out to be a boon.
I have 18 old 357 Mag cases which take LARGE pistol primers. I keep them in case that's all I have some day. I'd love to come across some 30/30 and 44 Special brass with SMALL primer pockets.
I ordered 2k Argentine primers from Norma USA 1/14 and they're supposed to be here 1/18. $50/k, plus state sales tax, no shipping, no "hazmat." I have more small than large, but Ill take what I can get if the price is anywhere near reasonable. May encounter someone who has large but needs small. Never know.

I'm ready to start buying SRP .308 brass to shoot in my Rem 700, M1A and FAL. You can replace SRPs once you use them; not necessarily so with LRPs!

SRP brass it was considered almost a racing upgrade at the time of the first .308 Lapua Palma Match. It probably is now too, given the unit cost of those Lapua cases_
