Hi everyone. In today's crazy, upside down world many of us are actively pursuing the simple things in life. Traditionalism is taking on a new appeal for many of us in our outdoors adventures. A staple of the traditional American sportsman has been the products of the Coleman company. Many of us have fond memories of Dad firing up the ole Coleman stove for a frosty morning breakfast in camp. POST ABOUT YOUR COLEMAN GEAR HERE. We'd love to see it! Until recently I was content with my Coleman propane lanterns and stove but have now transitioned to old school white gas gear. It is so much more fun! Each appliance seems to have its own personality, drill and charm. My small collection started with the1976 220E and 1966 220F lanterns my father in law gave me. They had been stored in the shed for years but had great history with my wife's family. The 1966 220F was rebuilt and, while a bit cantankerous, works great. The 1976 220E was converted to an electric lamp for my rustic study. Two recent flea market acquisitions are a fantastic 228 "Big Hat" that dates to Oct 72 and a 220K from May 1982. Both are in great shape and the 220K has already been in the woods on a camping/ scouting trip. My favorite (operationally) is the Big Hat. Family Photo (L to R, 220K, 228 Big Hat, 220F) An old (early 1960s) Model 425C suitcase type stove also followed me home from one of our flea market trips. It has some light rust but cleaned up great and is in nearly "new" condition. Thinking about it makes me want to throw the camp bacon on!

Did AGM make the original Kamplite lanterns? Saw one for sale last week locally.

In the original post I mentioned the 220E (circa 1976) that got converted to an electric lamp. Some might consider that sacrilege, but I was having a difficult time finding a ventilator that was in good shape and will actually get daily use and enjoyment from the conversion. August in the South has really set in and the heat and humidity is miserable. Yesterday the 220E gave me a fun indoor project on my day off. A quick run to Lowe's got me everything needed. The 2.5 watt LED lamps really crank out the light and look better than bulbs in the place of the mantles. Good, warm colored light, low current draw and little heat produced, wins all the way around. Power switch and cord. Let there be light!

I really like that LED conversion. Adds a nice touch rustic touch to a man-room.
Now, all you need to do is add sound to it. Wouldn't seem right without that hiss.

Yeah, the hiss is absolutely part of the Coleman magic. Need to record it and add a Bluetooth speaker to the 220E for some soothing background noise. Lol. As for the man cave, the closer we can get to sitting in camp when we can't actually be there the better.

Since AGM was in your hometown, acquiring/restoring a few of their lanterns would seem like a very worthwhile endeavour. The old postcard photo is very cool! Thanks for the comment on the LED conversion. It turned out well and will be enjoyed everyday.

The LED conversion is very cool. Only thing I would change is to make the valve a two position on/off switch if possible. Awesome idea that I am going to use in the near future.

That's an awesome idea on the switching but it would be tough to pull off. Another variation would be a cord switch if the fount mounted switch was objectionable.

Here's a shot of my LP Gas Model 5120. This lantern was recently given to me by my Dad (84). My grandmother bought it for him, new in 1963. It's dated 10-63 and predates me by over two years. It was used on our family campouts when we were kids. Unfortunately, the nanny state had decided the LP cartridges should be outlawed so I can't fire it up without an adapter. Somewhere along the way the bail got lost. Need to find a replacement part.

Ran across a couple of interesting videos on how Coleman lanterns and stoves are made. What a great American company.

I have a pile of lanterns but one of them is a US marked one from WW2. Sort of a cool one. Still works perfectly! New in box stoves from 70s etc. I had a problem a while back gathering them. Hahahaha. Love the hiss of them though. Takes me back 35 years!!!
Being in KS, we find some cool ones every now and then with them made here for so long.

Yeah, I can see how easy it could be top develop a "problem", lol. Right now, I am currently high bidder on a nice 50s Model 200a listed on eBay. Really don't need it... Have also been looking at the old 252c lamps with the nickel plated fount. Really don't need one of those either... To me these things are relatively inexpensive, fun to work on, and put a smile on my face. Ah, the simple things. Sounds like you have a few really cool items in your collection. One question. Where are the pics? Some years back, I did multiple trips to Wichita for training on the KingAir 350 (at Flight Safety, Inc). On the weekends I'd get out and ride around and always took note of the Coleman plant as I passed by. Would love to have gotten a quick tour but had no contacts there.

Is the 200A the little red one. I have a single burner red like new in a hard case. I’ll have to go see what all I still have. Ha.
