The Accurate 36-190D is an exact duplicate of the bullet David and I designed through Mountain Molds. I think you'll like it. This summer I plan to try it in a Mauser 96 I converted to .35 Remington way back when. Also hope to shoot them in my .357 Herrett TC. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
Thanks, Lee! That's all I needed to hear to start working this into the budget. I want to snag this one before summer is over.
I've always wanted to build a 35 Remington on a 18" barreled Chilean 95, but haven't gotten that far. As much as I prefer the 44s and 45s for handguns, I've added 35s back in (for the umpteenth time over the years) and have established the 35 cal as the ONE optimal caliber I can coax a very wide range of utility from, from a pocketable 38 Special, to the 35 Whelen,... if I wish. Nothing against all the other stuff, but I'm planning for "retirement age," so that I am not tied to a job just to be able to shoot. The 35s should do it all for me and I should only ever have to spend any cash on primers, maybe powder some day, possibly some brass eventually.
I've shot the 190 grain Ranch-Dog bullet, meant for the 35 Remington from the Max and Mag in carbines and the Mag surprised me the most, comfortably kissing the low end of 1800 fps from an 18" barrel, using 300 MP. That was a different carbine than I have now, so a total rework is necessary on the new one, and what that one told me makes me think your and David's bullet is going to be a winner in this application.

More feedback from David on our 194 gr Bradshaw-Martin SWC: ___________________________________________________________________________ While helping a friend sight-in a couple of rifles, the first-assembled Blackhawk Maximum came out to fire one shot of the Bradshaw-Martin 194 SWC GC over 18.5/H4227. Range lased with Bushnell rangefinder @ 130 yards. Weeks later, same range, same revolver with Bradshaw-Martin 194 SWC GC over 18.5/H4227 different target. Using last light of day to register iron sights, 3 shots from rest----leather gloves folded on porch rail. Shot #1, low left; shot #2, right; shot #3, upper left. 3x3 shots into 3.4" @ 130 yards. Bill Ruger, Jr., favored a 5-degree included angle forcing cone, while David argued for a very short, 11-degree cone. Both comes were used in production, although distribution of each in production remains a mystery. Ruger fit David's #18 with one of each. Sights shown are David's preferred arrangement, .100" front, with .090" notch rear. Per David's request target sights with .125" front, and .125" notch rear were available, also. Three gas checks recovered from 3 shots on 1/8" steel plate @ 130 yards. Steel disc angled a hair left of perpendicular to bullet's flight. The three gas checks fell close together, 9 feet to the left of bullet impact on steel. Leatherman Wave for scale of 3 shots from the length a football field and 3 endzones. Impression of powder coat Bradshaw-Martin 194 SWC GC in 1/8" steel plate, as viewed from backside. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I think this is the best description of the Maxi & the bullet combo yet. Truly a well designed bullet that works WITH the gun.

David - your recovered gas checks show the same level of concentricity as did mine (also found below the steel target). Evidence that our bullet is flying straight, with little to no yaw. Fine shooting @ 130 yards. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

This thread proves that Ruger has no choice but to offer the max again! In our dreams I guess

I think that Lipsey's would like for Ruger to bring this gun back, we will just have to wait & see. Hopefully Ruger is listening.

I thought Dick had already taken a deer with this bullet in a Maxi?

Those are some very impressive dents in that steel for a cast bullet fired from a revolver at that range.
