Boys, I ain't dancing! I'm like a Ballerina on Croc's & those Sonic girls wear Frog Fins!! Trapr, I think Glenn is running that bullet with that "alloy" at about 1150 fps. I made those bullets, good thing is, you can change it depending on your needs. That's what I keep talking about with the guys running hard bullets & running them too fast. Lots of Atimony at high velocity is going to cause you some grief.

Wow!! 1150ish,..........16grs gets me 1000fps with a 410gr from a 500L. I guess there is enough difference in case capacity and bore diameter to cause that much variance.

15.5 in a 5.5" 475 from John L did 1167. I shot my bison with that load. Too fast for that alloy mix though. Started to lead a little on me after about 20 rounds. 14.5 takes me to an even 1100 and no leading. Mushrooms look exactly like Jame's above. Ive only recovered one. Not recovered on bison. 1" perfect circle holes through both rib ages and he was down in just a second or two. One shot and blood poured from both sides.
Deer exits are pretty impressive and the only one I have recovered was from a fat hog that really stretched out and held it on offside. The other hogs I've shot were pass through. Petals were lost but shank exited and in a straight line. Dramatic blood loss and extensive internal damage. Worked great!

Glenn hasn't jumped on the powder coated band wagon yet, if you need to run that much velocity (1167 fps) then you need to either powder coat or change the BHN about one point. I've gave out the formula that I've used over the years so no need again but it's worked pretty good for close to 50 year +- one point either way depending on whether you are using new or old wheel weights, etc. When guys learn to shoot for accuracy & get away from the hard bullet/maximum velocity crowd they start hitting a lot more home runs instead of foul balls. I've killed a lot of game with what many would consider slow loads while some guys are starting their flinch when they pull back the hammer. That 385-390 gr slug will over power just about anything at 1000-1100 fps. You make it fail if you over run it unless you change alloy.

Never tasted Watusi but I understand it's quite tender when it's been hit with a small truck load of bullets. Might be best to check your lead levels after eating.

Haha , it is tender when shot a lot and that's one of the unwritten benefits of cast bullets. You get tenderizing out in the field. We dont tenderize the big ones out in the field because they tend to just run off.

I've hunted twice with Lee Hawes out of Ford, Kansas. I understand he has the buffalo on a new place as the previous location dried up and the grass failed. He stopped hunting for a few years because he didn't want to resort to feeding them like cattle. At the old ranch you lived in a tipi or dug-out, ate out of a dutch oven, rode out on horseback and kinda relived the old times ways for a bit. We had a blast and filled the freezer twice with great meat. The processor he used was South Fork Processing in Ness City, Kansas. Lee is a walking encyclopedia of western history. I'd go back in an instant! I too hunted with Lee several years ago. I hadn't heard that he was operating again. That is good news! His hunt was one of the highlights of my life for several reasons. I used a rifle, but it was a "cool" one. I used an 1876 Winchester in 45-60 loaded with BP. A 410 gr. cast FN bullet (20:1) put down a meat bull with one shot at 118 yards. Recovered the bullet in the off side shoulder. Perfect mushroom from a bullet that left the muzzle at 1200 fps. Dan
