Ok, I mention a new super secret prototype Barranti (who the HELL is that guy) holster and nobody bites??? I heard ya Dogs! I've been messin with this P320 for several months now. Haven't touched another handgun. The frame you see is my fourth and final. Took several to find what I liked but hey, they are cheap so there's that. The one in my pics is a large compact module in FDE. I chopped the front to give a more pleasing profile in my eye, I got rid of that stupid hook on the front of the trigger guard and did the texture (stipple) job. I haven't touched the internals. No need for it. They have smoothed up nicely. This thing has a butter smooth action. Like 2Dogs said it will eat any 9mm ammo you can stuff in it. I've been through a bunch of different factory offerings and it has digested everything without one malfunction. This is a pistol I would trust anytime anywhere. I got an email from Dr. Shuckinstein (Doc Barranti) just this morning and the rig you see in the picture will be in my mailbox in a few short days. Really can't wait for that! I will say if any of you are on the fence about picking up a P320 in any configuration then get off that rail and buy with full confidence! It is a pistol that will hold its own against any other modern pistol on the market. It is very rugged, wonderfully accurate and cradle to the grave reliable! I say these things without an ounce of hesitation and months of trigger time to back it up. Paul PS: click on any pic to enlarge.

Mine is very simular to Paul's. I haven't posted a picture yet because I haven't had time to hire me a new picture host. Maybe Paul will be good enough to post some for me if I email or text him a couple.
Mike Barranti really hit this AIWB design out of the park. I am a bit of a slow changer and I have always carried my pistol behind my hip bone. Much to Mike's frustration I have insisted on a split loop in order to further anchor his already sturdy design to my jeans belt loop. Of course having a belt perfectly matched to the loops is a really good idea as well. We have worked our way through a number of magazine pouch designs and I have landed on the all stitched version. I have also developed a liking for Horse Hide. Mike says it's the only material suitable for my gristle. The change I made was to move my holster just to the right of my belt buckle. The change from behind my hip for forward of my hip for me was an evolutionary one long in coming. I wont go into my reasons for changing but I will say this position makes the carry pistol far more accessible from a variety of positions. While I was waiting for Mike B to craft my rig I spent some time with a Kydex version called the T-Rex with the Sidecar option. While a very very good carry rig, the kydex itself has no give and tends to be a bit hard on ones tender places. I added a bit of foam padding which did two things: It made for a cushion between the toe and me and also canted the butt of the pistol inboard aiding concealability.
The Barranti holster has a number of subtle features that in my opinion make it a far better option than Kydex or any other rig for that matter. First is it is just far more comfortable. I think a lot of that is the Kydex requires screws and washers and grommets and such and the Horse Hide or Leather does not take up all that real estate. Cataracts have forced me to a red dot sight on my carry pistol. I reluctantly purchased the Sig P320RX version with the Romeo 1 red dot sight not knowing how durable or reliable it would be. On my AIWB holster, Mike has built the mouth to prevent the "switches" on the Romeo 1 from coming into contact with the wearers skin. Further, this mouth is by far the stoutest I have ever seen on a holster. It holds the pistol very very securely almost "clicking" in and out of place. Naturally, this is a rough out design, and rough out designs tend to want to "hold" their position rather than shift better than smooth leather might. The loop is a bit of a compromise between his ideas and mine. It is just a single stout simple loop mounted so that it can be adjusted for cant and tightened into place. It is a dandy of a prototype and I might just finally give in and let him build me a "pizza" style one.
Then there is the height at which the rig rides. It is just enough to allow for a full contact grip for a positive draw but no higher to compromise concealment. The mouth remains a huge target for easy and secure reholstering. I've already put quite a few miles on this rig and it has no doubt become a fast favorite. Another outstanding job Mike!!!

It's a Barranti lifestyle for me. Here, you can see the brevity of the new AIWB holster as compared to the T-Rex kydex rig above. Mike has not yet coined a name for it, but the new rig is super stout and I'll be rockin' it daily!!
I think for some people, the idea of a pistol pointed where a AIWB points is an uncomfortable one. I do want to point out that I think that is a mental issue, and certainly everyone has to make their own decision here. For me, it was more about changing the pistol from being where I've always reached for it. Now that I have it just to the right of my belt buckle, it just seems so much more accessable. These days seem to be more filled with people who would do you harm than ever. I'm afraid I might take that kinda personal...
Thanks for the tech help Paul!!

I like that rig Fermin! And appreciate the thought y'all put into it. I've lost 71 pounds over the past year and have been trying the AIWB carry. I bought a Crossbreed Freedom Tuck that allows carry almost anywhere on the belt but I just can't get used to the appendix carry. Even without a belly in the way. I haven't gone the Romeo route yet. I've been watching Romeo postings closely (SigTalk forum) for quite some time and I have seen too many mixed reviews to jump in on the RX model just yet. Seems you either get a good one or a bad one (Romeo). Sounds like you got a good one.

Nice rig, Fermin. BTW, I still slip mine behind my right hip, just can't get used to the muzzle digging into my right thigh when I sit and like you for 31yrs it was on or slightly behind my right hip and it's where I automatically 'reach'. Old habits die hard.

Beautiful stuff. I have never appendix carried for one reason only. I have a little belly. I would like to see pics of someone with a bit of hang over and hear - doesn't it bother you?
Paul - how do you like that post image site? Is it free or cost?

Paul - how do you like that post image site? Is it free or cost? I find it easy to use and it is free. Just create and account and upload your pictures. When posting to a forum click on the picture you want to post. A drop down menu appears that gives you several choices for different posting formats. I choose the thumbnail for forums. Click on that and your picture is copied. Go to your choice of forum threads, right click in your post and click paste. At that point it's a done deal. Also there is no annoying pop up adds constantly interrupting like there was on photogarbage. I can also post pics from my phone with postimage. I could never figure out how to do that with the crap. It's one of those if I can do anyone can do it things. One caveat though, apparently postimage think middle aged white guys really want Russian women because they keep showing up when I log in. If only I could speak Russian.

Fermin you have really learned how to stay calm and carry on cause your thread has been completely and utterly hijacked. And you're making jokes! WTH!! I'll admit it took me a few minutes to get it but I'm a bit more hard headed than many. Da? Het? (Nyet) :-)

Well, back on topic...
Those of us on this side of the moon have by now heard of the odd way they dropped the P320 to get it to go off. Wow. Imagine that. And of course, the masses on the internet are all banging on their P320's with hammers and such trying to get them to go off. I can remember being in a high speed car chase way back in the day. The offending driver ditched a Colt series 80 10mm Delta Elite (yeah, the one with the firing pin lock) out the window of his vehicle at high speed and guess what? It went off! I guess Colt didn't think to replicate that particular test. Fortunately it missed me and my unit.
I actually dropped my service pistol once. Actually, that isn't technically correct, I was jumping a concrete highway barrier and it came out of my circa 1980s cop holster and flew across the highway. I immediately after purchased a "security" holster from Gordon Davis and solved that problem.
So, if anybody decides that they can no longer live with their now "dangerous" P320, send me a PM. Maybe I can adopt it.

You've done it now Fermin! You've just invited every wannabe warrior with a drop leg holster and molle gear to comment on a gun that might fire while they're jumping stumps, shooting mean ole paper targets while seated in a junk vehicle or clearing their trailer late at night with flashlight and laser attachments. All while they don't have a clue of what the 4 rules of gun safety are. I've seen more ND's on a public range from people with a 2.5-3.5 pound trigger connecter than I've even heard of a ND from a dropped pistol. Then you add in the fact that the P320 has to be dropped at a specific angle and it has to land on the beavertail and the slide at the same moment or you have to hit the back of the slide with a hammer to maybe get it to fire, well you go figure the odds on that. BUT if it can save just one dumbass from shooting himself or someone else then all this hysteria is worth it! Right? I say to Sig, leave the damn 320 alone and let the morons thin themselves out.

Ok, Going on 4 months now with my original Romeo sighted P320 RX Compact. It's hot here and I have been sweating all over this thing and it pretty much goes with me everywhere outside my front door. When I am in and out, it stays on inside as well. Other than a couple of rust spots on the mag release and the slide stop all is looking good. The only thing I did different was to use a good fitting screw driver to tighten the battery cap about a 1/4 turn past what the factory provided unit would do.

OK, my original equipment battery in my Romeo died tonite. So, battery life is almost 4 months, with constant carry.
I looked at my other P320, which now has my Trijicon RMR on it. It still has the original battery in it. It has been going constantly for some years now. Quite a difference.....

Battery life is an issue that several Romeo users had posted about over on the Sig forum. Some users not even getting the amount of time that you got. Might have been an issue with the tightness of the battery cover though. I’d put a fresh set in, torque down the cover with a proper screwdriver like you did a few days ago and see if you get better results. It’s a shame because being able to buy the 320 with proper iron sights and a quality optic as a package made it a good deal.
