Guess that depends on your needs and expectations. I don't doubt that they shoot good. However if you want low recoil and accuracy in a 9mm bore gun the 38 Super with the heavier bullets have proven to be the proper path. Had a shooter show up a while back with a super accurate 1911 9mm that was put together by Jim Collins. The gun shot good but it recoiled like a 45 wadcutter gun. If the recoil is equal and you only make a .355 hole as opposed to a .452 hole why bother with the .355 Perhaps the real question is if this thread is about a 125 grain HP cast bullet why are you here? Hijacking AND bumping your post count?

My favorite round/gun combination is a 1911 in .38 Super... Have carried a Commander daily since 1980. Mild recoil, high velocity and extremely accurate... I have one of those MP molds. Cast some up a couple of months ago but have not had the time to size/lube them. My favorite cast bullet for the Super is the SAECO 383 140 grain TC. They are also now available from Montana Bullet Works. To look at it one would think it would never feed but it runs 100% in all my Supers and the 9mms I have tried it in... 6.0 grains of Unique run 1240 fps fom a 4.25" Commander barrel... 50' If you get around to shooting the Miha's you cast up do us a favor and take some pics and update your post. Evidently your Super 38 is quite a shooter. Be interesting to see how the 125 stacks up.

Over the years I have owned a number of 9mm pistols. Glock 19 and 26, Browning High Power, Sig 229, and a couple others. About 3 years ago, I bought a Wilson Beretta 92, one of the best shooting 9mm pistols I have ever owned. I have never considered using cast bullets in a 9mm self defense handgun. I carry and practice with the same load. Usually it is Hornady Critical Defense or Federal HST. If I am using it as a house gun, It is loaded with Liberty +P. If I was going to shoot it a lot, cast bullets would make a lot of sense. Is anybody using cast bullets for SD ? ----------------------------------- GeezerD Well, for the amount of factory ammunition I have seen shot in 17 years of running a 500 man police range I have seen very few ammo related failures. So, I'm not sure there is a better way to go than factory. However, top quality hand loads have no peer. On the subject of cast bullets for self defense I would say if I have to defend myself I will do so with whatever is available.

If anyone wants to kill paper, the 38 Super will feed and shoot full wadcutters when seated mid depth of the bullet......... about like shooting a 38 Special target auto.

I looked and have processed the 9mm HPs I have...must have been asleep when I was doing it...
Many years ago a friend modified a couple of his Supers to take full wadcutters seated to the case mouth just like a .38 Special. I've also shot the Lyman/Thompson 358156 from my guns but have not done that in 25 yards.

Fermin - I am interested in hearing more about your experiences if you pick up a 320. I don't cast anymore but the 125 gr. cast HP looks like a good one. I shoot 9mm in a number of Springfield XD's and CZ's. My experience has shown that the XD's demonstrate a distinct preference for 147 gr. bullets, the CZ's for 115's or 124's. The accuracy differences with non-favored bullet weights are acceptable at self-defense ranges, but would be intolerable for the standards of most members of this forum. Just a thought before deciding on a favored weight. I would love to have ONE accuracy load for the XD and CZ but I haven't found it. I hoped the 135 gr. as cast and coated by Bayou Bullets might be the compromise weight but all of my CZ's were unimpressed. The Sig 320 may prove to shoot all weights equally well and I am eager to hear your assessment if you go that route.
I am also keenly interested in your evaluation of the red dot optic on a pistol used for plinking and SD. I'm tempted to buy or build one to try, but am waiting until more reports come back from the field. Your experiences and report would be valued.
Best,
Hugh

BUT WE SHALL SEE. I am also keenly interested in your evaluation of the red dot optic on a pistol used for plinking and SD. I'm tempted to buy or build one to try, but am waiting until more reports come back from the field. Your experiences and report would be valued. I HAVE USED THE TRIJICON RMR ON A GLOCK SINCE THEY FIRST BECAME AVAILABLE SOME YEARS AGO. BEFORE THAT, I HAD AN AIMPOINT ON MY IPSC PISTOL AFTER ENOS WON BIANCHI CUP WITH ONE IN 1982. YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU NEED ONE BECAUSE YOUR FRONT SIGHT GETS BLURRY. YOU OF COURSE CAN CORRECT WITH BIFOCALS BUT IN A EVERY DAY CARRY YOU MAY NOT HAVE THAT TIME OR OPTION. I USE A RED DOT BECAUSE I NEED ONE NOW. Best, Hugh THANKS, AND LETS HOPE FOR THE BEST. FERMIN

What would the bullet diameter be? So after looking at the link Doug provided I'm going to guess that it wil be .359? If so I could load it up in a +P .38? Although Bob (bulletdesigner) might tell me Miha has a better offering for the .38.

What would the bullet diameter be? Miha made them in 0.357" and 0.359". So after looking at the link Doug provided I'm going to guess that it wil be .359? If so I could load it up in a +P .38? Some folks do, but there is no crimp groove. Although Bob (boolitdesigner) might tell me Miha has a better offering for the .38. There is the 360640, which is a 140 gr. HP and the 360640 Light, which is a 125 gr. HP. The 140 gr. version has shot palm size groups at 300 yards out of a 1894 357 Magnum Marlin rifle with the iron sights it came with.... the whole magazine was in the group.

Bumpity bump bump. Fermin, just wondering if any progress on either the mold or your want for the SigRX? Damn things went and got scarce! I did handle the new P320 X5 today, but I am going to hold out a bit and see if I can secure the RX compact version. I'll start a group buy on a 9mm mold here pretty soon.

Bob are those numbers Miha's or someone elses?
