I killed 2 out of 3 coyotes this morning with a rifle. One was a HUGE male! One of the biggest I have ever killed. Then my wife asked me "Does this outfit make me look fat?" Ummm… Pretty sure I am sleeping on the couch.

Friend and I went to his farm today, 70 miles from home. Walked around and when we got back the truck was DEAD, no start, no turn over ,battery was up, GREMLINS I GUESS. So shot his new Colt Cobra while waiting for the wrecker, nice little shooter decent trigger. Didn't shoot truck but was tempted, My wife had to come and rescued us from dealership where truck was taken.

I didn’t shoot a single action, but did shoot my caliber companion lever action. Rossi/Puma M92 in 480 Ruger. Less intimidating than my 1895 Marlin, much easier on my surgically repaired shoulder. 420 gr lead did leave a mark - only one shot on the steel. Tim I liked the idea of a lever 480 so well I just sent a pre safety Marlin 1894 to Regan Nonneman to be converted to 480. I have tried a few times to buy a Rossi 480 but always seemed to either got outbid or missed the posting. That put a pretty good hurtin on that steel plate.

I hope we can see more about your Marlin when you get it back! I was lucky on the Rossi. Showed up on Collectors Firearms’ (Houston) website one day a few years back and I grabbed it. Way less than a used Vaquero then! Tim

I bought a second 44 mag Marlin recently in hopes to one day turn it in a 480. Very nice!

Finally got around to trying a couple of different red dots and mounts. Tried the Trijicon RMR (6.5 MOA) mounted on EGW base. Very low mounting system. RMR window a bit small. EGW base only has one screw and leaves the forward portion of the the sight cut open along with the forward two screw holes. Shot 50 rounds of 240 JSP over 20.0gr 2400. Today, mounted Leupold Deltapoint Pro (2.5 MOA) on Raptor Engineering base. Not as low as the EGW, but close -- fills sight cut completely and uses all three screws. The Deltapoint window is noticeably larger (easier to quickly acquire dot) vs the the RMR or C-More STS (posted on previous page). Battery can be replaced without removing optic from mount. Easy on and off and selection of dot size. Shot 50 rounds of 240 JSP over 20.0gr 2400 today. I've really enjoyed working with these small red dots and different mounting systems. Anecdotally, the seem to allow me to shoot more accurately. As mentioned before, I don't care for the look, but really like the results. I like the smaller MOA dots. Still shoot/carry open sights and probably will continue to do so. FWIW, Paul

I have been shooting this Sig Scorpion 1911 lately. It is as accurate as I can be with it. Very nice trigger and just an all around fun gun. Picked up a holster and double mag pouch from ktmech.com. I love these holsters. Not leather, but pretty well put together kydex.

I spent 3.5 glorious hours at the range Sunday. The weather was ugly so it wasn't packed, everything I brought worked and I shot reasonable well (for me) when I did my part. I picked up this Ruger Precision Rimfire .22LR from a local place where it was on consignment late last year and this was my first range trip with it. I was pleasantly surprised after I got the scope dialed in. The flyer in the group on the left was either the first or second shot of the group.

Still winter here in Idaho but me & a buddy went down to the range to shoot a few rounds at the plate rack from the safety of my truck window. Distance was about 37 yds from past shooting experience. There's a rope we can pull to reset the steel. I ran a few cylinders through both guns & didn't have any misses but those 6" plates are pretty easy to hit at that distance. My two guns today were a favored 44 special flat top wearing a new set of my Box Elder Burl stocks & the load is 5.5 grs of 231 with a 240 gr Keith HP, a load that shoots terrific in this gun & has accounted for 4-5 deer. The second gun is a very special 4 5/8's 327 with Elk stags on it & this little baby will stack them in one hole if I'm serious & shooting from a solid rest at 25 yds. It's a dream to shoot & almost embarrassing if you miss. I was shooting 32 mag brass with a 100 gr powder coated cast & 3 grs of WST, a can't miss load in almost any 32 or 327 magnum. Both holsters are the master, Mike, Doc Barranti. Just before I left I thought at first that Sasquatch had found me but when my eyes focused it was only Callshot!!! Dick
