I think it's about time for a new thread here. However, like the "What did you load today" thread, this one will require some action on your part!! So, here goes. I actually shot yesterday but the idea for this thread didn't come up in my skull till after. To much blank space in there I think... I have been shooting up a bunch of different assorted .357 Magnum for the last couple of weeks. This has translated into a pretty good pile of .357 brass. I remember how Skeeter wrote that he put up loads for his .357 Magnum in .38 special brass using the 357156 gas check bullet seated to crimp in the lower crimp grove because he only had a "handful" of .357 Magnum brass. I sure could have fixed him up with brass! My good friend and brother Tank Hoover has written a couple of times how he shot targets double action and that he could hear his training academy officers voice when he did so. As it turns out, when I got tired of shooting paper targets I pulled out my old Security Six and shot a good number of cylinders DA only standing on my hind feet smiling to myself and thinking of my old buddy Tank. The range I was shooting on sets the target bank at 55 yards and the berm was a bit over 5 yards beyond that. My targets were a scattered group of previously broken clays. Every so often I would center one and I often hit close enough to bounce them about. Pretty satisfying as well as relaxing. Especially when my IPhone rang and sure enough Tank was calling and I told him what I was doing. The heat index was 110 down here yesterday so be sure to stay hydrated. So get up and go shooting. If you have a neat steel plate set up or you blow up some water jugs testing bullets or some other such tell us about it.

I shot paper yesterday with my .454 SBH. Was testing some factory fodder (Federal 300 grain Swift A-frames) for an upcoming hunt. Put 40 rounds downrange. Had a tight schedule so I couldn't do a whole let yesterday.

Yesterday I spent some time chronographing some loads. Tried a new load in my Smith 69! 210JHC Sierra, 18.5 of AA#7,WW primer. Chronoed out at 1272 avg. This is probably going to be my utility load with this gun. Comfortable to shoot in the L Frame and helps with the Smith short front sight.
Also ran a string of Buffalo Bore 38Spl 158 LSWCHPs non +P through a 2" Detective Special Avg was 885. BB advertises 850 out of a 2".
Ran a Hornady Ammo of their 44 Special 165 FTX bullet through the 4.25" Model 69 it averaged at 1002.
Shot some plates with the DS and using wad cutters and 4.0 of 231 very accurate and shot to point of aim.
Had a good day!

I shot my Guncrafter .50 GI Glock for the first time yesterday. 300 grain flat point at 700fps and 275 grain jhp at 875fps. Both felt like shooting a 45 acp. It's first semi auto pistol I've shot where I could hear the empty cases hit the ground with every shot.

At the Shootists Holiday last week, I was very lucky to close a deal with my Shootist brother Matt, to acquire his previously unfired Ruger Flat-Top New Model .357 Magnum with a 10 1/2" barrel. Ruger made 53 or 59 of these several years ago for the Ruger Collectors Association. This is Number 23. Matt was very gracious in selling the gun to me. As I told him I would, I took the gun to the range today, and sighted it in. Rear sight bottomed out, it hits dead on at 25 yds. with full charge 158 JHPs. NIB no more, it is doing what handguns are supposed to do. Photo of the gun when I get around to it in the next few days. High polish, XR 3 gripframe, special S/N, nicely accurate.

Off hand fun on steel plates at 50, 75, and 100 yds with 798 Rem mauser in .458 WM, open sights. Recoil with full loads is violent with this 8.5 lbs rifle, so I dont shoot them but keep a dozen on hand for company. My fun load is a 535gr Lyman postell cast of WW, over 17gr of Trail Boss, lite by CCI 200s in fire formed .338 brass. This poduces 1025 fps, very mild recoil, and more than enough accuracy for steel out to a 100 yds, we haven't shot beyond that yet. These sub-sonics don't split your ear drums either, I use plugs for sure, but it can be fired without 2 or 3 times if you had to. Its mild and its fun, when I get this picture thing sorted out, I will post them, any advice on how to do so would be greatly appreciated.

You might try the .429215 GCHP Miha mold for your Smith 69. Should drop about 215 grains.

Shot about 100 rounds through my carry piece at 15 yards yesterday. One shot with some JHP to check POI Then the remaining 5 followed by another 6 of my cast 230gr Lee TC over 6.5gr SR4756. Then about 100 more of the reloads for practice. Here is the 6 and 6 of the factory loads and reloads.
