Shot the old Colt SAA in 45 again (look up about 11 posts - 1905 year of birth). Tried the lightest (200 gr RN) bullet with the biggest load of Trail Boss I felt comfortable with to try and bring down the POI. Still high. Then I went back to a much lighter load of TB and the POI wasn't a whole lot higher so for now I'll stick with the milder load to lessen the impact on the old gun. About 5" high at thirty yards so I just bury the itty-bitty front sight in the giant trough and squeeze and the steel plates jump a wee bit after a slight pause for the bullet to go 30 yards. Boom, pause, plink!
Still lots of fun shooting 110+ year old irons!

They were meant to be used not put up and looked at. Good for you for shooting it, holding history in your hands and letting it tell its tale, one shot at a time! WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the indoor range today, 3 inches of new snow on the ground and temps in the low 20s. Turning into a real wuss in my old age. Shot my house gun a Sig 320 45 and it continues to shoot well. It likes 225 trunecated cone bullets with 5.5 grains of Bullseye.
Second gun to go to the line this morning was my Ruger Match Champion and boy does that 357 shoot! It especially likes 160 FP cast by GT over 14.0 2400 and a W-W primer, shoots nice little groups at 50 ft from a Weaver stance. Have the Wolff 10/10 springs in the MC and it really shoots sweet.
Would have taken pictures but had people waiting and the range was busy. Shot made some notes on loads and left the lane for the next person who was setting up a AR.
Stopped by a favorite Pawn shop today after leaving the range and lo and behold in the case a very clean, lightly carried and little evidence of being shot a Nickel Model 29-2 4" and I feel a trade coming on. Owner set it back as he knows I will work a deal. Original grips just like new, forgot to ask if they had the case. $895.00 but I've never had a nickel 29.

Yesterday, I cleaned up the vault and loading bench - don’t tell Curtis, he’ll never believe it! As usual, I find stray, unidentified loaded rounds. Had 18 in 45 Colt. Since I have revolvers chambered in 45 Colt of varying strength, I wanted to get them shot and back in the brass rotation. My large frame 5 shot is suffering from a bulged barrel, so I grabbed the next strongest option, a Harton massaged OM 45 with a tite rechambered SBH cylinder, Clements Bisley hammer and Harton walnut grips. 11 popgun rounds, 6 stout rounds and one fire breather. Trapr, That remains a mystery. I bought the gun used in fine shape. I shot it with normal Ruger only loads with no apparent issues, no squibs. Some time later, the bulge became apparent. Much later, during a used brass processing effort, I found 5 pieces of 44 Magnum brass bulged to .480” that were apparently fired in a 45 cylinder. I don’t usually have 44 mag ammo around since I don’t usually keep 44 Mag revolvers very long. I can’t see how a .430” bullet could bulge the barrel, but that’s all I have out of the ordinary so far. May have nothing at all to do with it. Look at the “45 Colt” on the barrel, north east of the “T”. Tim

It is plain to see when you look for it, that’s odd. I accidentally fired 2 rounds of 44 thru my 45colt, luckily I was chronoing at the time and noticed two really unexpected low velocities. Double checked and realized I’d pulled the wrong ammo, no I’ll effects were noted on the gun, and cases were easy extraction, but definitely effed up.
Did your accuracy change??

Shot an IDPA shoot this morning... Colt Commander .38 Super for two stages Dan Wesson Guardian .38 Super for two stages Colt Defender .38 Super for the BUG stage
Then went outdoors and shot a couple of .41s... 1964 S&W Model 57 8 3/8" using a 211 grain Keith HP with 9.0 grains of Unique and a 215 grain PentaPoint with 10.0 grains of Unique.
Second gun was a new acquisition while out of state for Christmas... 2014 vintage Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter complete with 4 power Weaver scope. Shot it with open sights today just to get them zeroed to a load of a 265 grain LBT ahead of 21.0 grain of H110...next time out will try it with the scope...
Supposed to start showing shortly and snow for 24+ hours here in NH...

Rained all day here so no shooting. Did go to a show and sold a barrel and traded off a rifle I didn't like. Came home with a Dan Wesson .44 heavy barrel with a 6 and 10 in barrel and extra grip, pound of powder and a Lyman #3 manual. So a good rainy day with shooting to come.

Shot the D W yesterday and its a keeper. Ten inch gun feels solid in the hand, more so than the 6 in. Need to install a new hand, but it is ordered and on the way.

Well... my New Year Resolution is "Shoot Revolvers More" but I did shoot my Glock 34 last night with coated bullets. I know they work in S&W EDM Barrels but I'd always avoided using them in my Glock factory barrels. They work fine! No leading to speak of... Bullet: Blue Bullet 125 gr. TC (.356) Powder: Alliant Sport Pistol 3.9 Primer: Federal 100 Case: Federal LOAL: 1.130 Recoil Spring: ISMI 15 lb. recoil spring and Jager Polymer Guide Rod.

Loaded some 175gr. RNHP, they're .411 size, from GT bullets with WW231 into some new IMI 41ae brass I found at the fall Whannamacher's a couple months ago for use in my Tangfolio TA90.
Only made 10 round, all went ba g ad the action cycles without a glitch.

I'm glad I managed to get a good supply of Hornady 185 gr. Z-Max bullets while they were available from Midway. Jacketed .45 ACP bullets with a crimping groove are pretty hard to find. Big thumbs up for Alliant Sport Pistol - shoots great in my S&W 625-8! This is a warm load, but not maximum... Bullet: Hornady 185gr. Z-Max FTX (with cannelure) Powder: Alliant Sport Pistol 6.05 grs. Primer: Federal 150 Case: Winchester LOAL: 1.265 Eighteen rounds at 30 feet.
