Picked up my new maximum yesterday, loaded a few to shoot today. Wow! What an easy gun to shoot! First time out I started with a 170gr cast GC HP with some IMR-4227 and CCI 400 primers. The last string averaged 1452fps for 10 shots. I stopped at 20.5gr of powder because the case looked pretty full and I wasnt sure how this powder reacts to being compressed. I plan to go higher as there seemed to be a little unburned powder left and the cases extracted very easy. What a fun gun to shoot! Hope to take it coyote hunting soon!

I fire lapped one of my 45 colts today......tomorrow Ill see if there is an improvement. Got out and shot some more test loads for my SBH 480....finally saw it show some promise with a heavy LFN bullet I was hoping it would shoot. Velocity is plenty and no signs of pressure.

Today...
S&W 25-9 (45 Colt) Custom '72 Blackhawk (45 Colt) Ruger No.1 Stainless (45-70 Gubmin't) Marlin 1895 Ltd II (45-70 Gubmin't) Ruger 77/22 RSI (22WMR) Marlin 336SS LTD (35 Rem)
...didn't end up shooting the two 357's, the 10/22TD and the Garand I brought out, but had a BUNCH of fun. We had the entire range to ourselves and I just shot for the pure fun of it today (a rarity for for me) at both steel and paper targets and one very unlucky water filled jug (300gr JHP out of the Ruger No.1 put the hurt to it big time).
Commited to buying a blued/walnut Ruger No.1 45-70 on the 4th (is there a better day to commit to a firearm purchase?) and if it shoots half as good as my stainless model, I'll be thrilled.
Hope everyone had a fun 4th and an enjoyable Independence Weekend!!!

I shot my fire lapped 45colt today but didnt see any improvement in accuracy. Even the chrono number seemed a little slower. The barrel still leaded also, but no worse than before. My bumped the load up on my 480 a little more with my 420gr LFN and showed some pretty good numbers and decent groups. Ive never been a good “group shooter” to start with. Pretty interesting stuff. The load went from about 97%-103% load density on the 480. It sound s a little funny, but I swear the recoil even felt different (actually comfortable) at the top end charge on the 480.

So Steve, you wouldn't be complaining here would ya? I trimmed trees with a pole saw today. It was hot. I hate ladders. I excel at falling off the dang things. How exactly was your day again??? LOL....You can shoot my No5 buddy! If you can't turn in a good group with that thing you have to turn in all your sixguns!

Took my 45 colt Bisley Vaquero for a spin today. I have been working with a 255gr RF LEE bullet and a 250gr 454-640 MiHec bullet. Ive tried Unique, HS-6, and Power Pistol. Today was Power Pistol loaded with Remington 2 1/2 primers. It turned some pretty good groups and some good chrono numbers. Ill be loading that back again!

Not today, but the plan is for tomorrow breaking in a couple of shotguns. A Stoeger Coach Gun in 12 Gauge and an old Remington Model 11 in 16.

Shot some paint (yesterday) and some pictures (today)... Swapped out some parts/optics on my AR and the finish was getting beat up from use, soooo it went from this... to this... To this... Added a bit of green this time. The lighter spots are where the sun was peeking though the canopy. Pretty happy with the way it turned out and the fact I can touch it up whenever I need to.

Getting better with the 30 BR hunting rifle, it prefers heavier bullets and a firm hold - then it shoots great! Last two 3-shot groups at 100 yards with the discontinued (drat!) 135 gr. SMK. I don't know which hole is a double on the left X but it's three shots! Bullet: Sierra 135 gr. Matchking HP #2123 Powder: H4198 30.5 grs. Primer: Wolf Small Rifle Magnum Case: Lapua 6mmBR Reformed LOAL: 2.252 (1.669 Base to Ogive) Comments: Bullets seated for 0.020 jump to lands.
