Today - shot 50 rounds out of a Harton 475 Linebaugh. In the middle of the shooting, I get a call from a neighbor who thinks our other neighbor is firing off his bird cannon (in contravention of a cease and desist order from the courts) and that the authorities have been notified. Whoops! I told him it was just me and my little handgun. Hope this isn't an issue when I have to testify in court next week on the bird cannon issue. I live in the country on 40 acres so I don't have anyone close to the range. Oh well. Tim

Funny, sorta. Had an old woman here a few houses up the road with a herd of yappy dogs and most were gun shy and every other kinda shy. She berated me one day while I was was walking my dog, properly on leash, for causing her babies so much torment. I explained to her that I'm not the only one in the whole river bottom 'hood here that shoots and that I've been on 2nd shift for more than a decade now and the times she was complaining of, well, could not have been me. She passed last year, was 101 ! Miss her, was real people.

Finally got to the range. Shot the NCH 6.5CM, Les Baer with 22lr conversion. Then shot the Bisley 480, the custom 44, and a 338JDJ #2 Contender. Lastly, shot the S&W mod 17 and FA 97 44Spl. Really muddy, but had fun.

Yesterday: Need to get back into the swing of things! Took a few pulls before the finger knew what to do with a DA trigger...

Yesterday was nice and mid 60s. I havent shot my carry guns in a while so i set up at about 10 yards and fired 100 rds through my G17. The first 50 were shot straight through. The last 50 were fired drawing from the holster 2-3 shots at a time.
I then switched to my LCR and fired 35-40 rounds through it.

Between bad weather and or being sick I havent been able to get out and practice. The only recoil I have felt recently has been 2 misses on 2 coyotes with my 45 Bisley Hunter.

I finally got out today for a little recoil therapy. I took my new Bisley Single Six, my 5.5” barrel 45 colt Bisley and my 7.5” 45colt Biley Hunter Everything got great. It was nice to see the Bisley SS group a few cylinders that I could cover with my fist at 50yds. I tried my normal heavy 45 loads in my short barrel and they were quite snappy but very accurate. I even tried them one handed and I handled it quite well. It was a good day to shoot and I need the therapy!!!

At the Shootists Holiday last week, I was very lucky to close a deal with my Shootist brother Matt, to acquire his previously unfired Ruger Flat-Top New Model .357 Magnum with a 10 1/2" barrel. Ruger made 53 or 59 of these several years ago for the Ruger Collectors Association. This is Number 23. Matt was very gracious in selling the gun to me. As I told him I would, I took the gun to the range today, and sighted it in. Rear sight bottomed out, it hits dead on at 25 yds. with full charge 158 JHPs. NIB no more, it is doing what handguns are supposed to do. Photo of the gun when I get around to it in the next few days. High polish, XR 3 gripframe, special S/N, nicely accurate. I THINK ONLY 50--GOOD TO SEE SOMEONE SHOOTING THEIRS BESIDES ME.

Today I was able to shoot a few guns. A day at the range quickly turned to me plinking. Have to say after a year of not getting any time to shoot it was spectacular. Will reload and tailor to accuracy when I can.
9mm ruger PC carbine (highly recommend), 327 single seven, ruger 5.5” bisley 45 colt, 38 special, 44 special 5.5” bisley, full custom redhawk 410 GNR, 500 JRH PC BFR, and last but not least 500 S&W with a 6.5 inch barrel.
Have a new found appreciation for the small bores after shooting today. Walking away I think the 44 special and 45 colt are my top favorites followed by the 327 Federal.
The 500 S&W was extremely accurate considering I shoot “mild” loaded 500 JRH through it. Don’t recall the exact loads but I believe it was a 380 grain at 1,000fps

I recently traded into a 500L by John that was built on a Bisley Vaquero with a drift adjustable front sight. After some work on the ban up the road I took it down to the bottom pasture and got to shoot it for the first time. I had 5 different loads made up and the ends of the bullets color coded so I could keep track of what loads I shot and which ones showed promise. Started with a sane HS-6 load then went to a load using 2400 powder and the second load shows some real promise. I am too old to thing I can do a good job of shooting 50 500L right out of the chute so I limited my self to these two loads to start with and stopped while it was fun and the front sight still was in view. No use in beating my self to death. I'm getting closer to that day fast enough without hastening the journey by hammering my body just to see if I can.
It ought to be fun to see what Trailboss loads for this gun shoot like as well.

I shot a little bit yesterday. Mostly just to get out and have fun. I my Stainless Bisley SS and found that this guy is a shooter. Clay pigeons on the berm were no match at 50yds. Even my grandfathers old 3 screw SS did well at 50yds. I may not hit every squirrel I shoot at but I stand to get a few! I shot my Bisley 44spl FT a little along with my 45 colt Bisley Tried a new to me 336 in 30-30 and found it needs a taller front sight to match the rear aperture I tried one batch of test ammo in my No.1 45-70 and found it needs a shorter front blade to match the rear aperture The range trip all in all was fun and enjoyable. I even found some useful brass while I was there.

What rear sight is installed on your #1?
Today i shot my Wiley Clap GP about 30 times. That gun just shoots for me. I absolutely love it.
