Shot my SBH Bisley 480 out back today and killed the halloween pumpkin. My wife videoed (in slow motion) the event. The recoil of that gun in slow motion looks violent.

Well, as it turns out, nothing.
Spent some time loading 44 mags, 357 mags and 9mm this morning. Piddled around until around 2 pm. Dog hadn't been for a walk yet, so I grabbed my 2 3/4" M66-8 and a bag of reloads, and jumped in the truck with the dog. When I got to the range, I took the dog for a long walk thinking that would give me some relaxed time shooting when we got back (our range in very big). After an hour tromping around thru the snow, I was finally ready to relax and "pop some caps". As soon as I opened the zip lock bag, I knew the day was done -- I brought the bag of .44 mags -- for some reason they were a bit big for the K frame .357.

Bummer, Paul! Must be a mountain west thing to do I did that about 5 years ago. Long slow drive home.

Usually have one of my M69s with me -- unfortunately not yesterday.

Shot my BFR .480 Ruger today with some 425 grainers/1200fps. Love this gun/caliber combination! SO much fun...well, mostly. However...I have the standard "plow handle" design with the factory rubber Pachmayr grips and man I hate these grips! They don't hurt necessarily, they just..."stick"...which is what they are supposed to do. The usual push and roll of heavy big bores from my bisley grips is obviously just not there...and I feel it! I got a killer deal on this BFR (used) so I am not going to complain at all. But it makes me miss my bisley gripped guns to be sure. After the holidays, I am having Zane make me some nice wood grips for it which will definitely help a ton so I can't wait for that! Or...perhaps somewhere down the road I might have Jack perform his grip mod which looks great and I can imagine feels even better. (BTW...having the factory fit a BFR Bisley grip frame is out of the question for me. I called them last week and with the work coming in at $385 plus $40 s/h...I would much rather have Jack's mod which looks MUCH better IMHO!). So until then...ugh! I won't even show my target because it was just so bad! Partly me...yes of course, but partly this grip. I just never have shot rubber grips well.

My first custom was a BFR .475 that Jack did a grip mod on for me. It looks good and feels better than anything I own EXCEPT my Blackhawks that he also modified. I never thought I'd say it, but his mods are better than factory Bisleys, which were my favorite grip for years. A worthwhile investment for any plow-handle revolver.

...I just never have shot rubber grips well. Wrap them with electrical tape until the new grips arrive. UGLY? Hell yeah, but might work better.

Put a Super Blackhawk hammer in a 4 5/8" 357 today, took it out for a test fire, went BANG every time.

New to me PX4 Compact. 100 rounds Blazer Brass 115g, 15rds MEN 124g, 15rds Rem 124g Golden Saber. It showed a definite preference for the 124g. Also put 60 through a Beretta .22 conversion kit on the M9A1 and 92 Compact (30 each) and it shows promise for more than just blasting but it was simply too cold and windy to stick around and start working the steel plates.

5.5" Ruger Bisley .45 Colt with a 300 grain LFNGC. Did not chronograph today but this gun/load has run around 1070fps in the past.
