"The 194gr Bradshaw-Martin SWC" got me thinking about acquiring a .357 Max. The thread must have increased demand because I couldn't find one for several months. A member on the Ruger forum had one for sale and I jumped on it. It arrived yesterday along with some brass on reloading dies. While unpacking the gun I got a bit of buyers remorse -- really never thought about it but it is BIG. Buyers remorse went away today when I got to shoot the gun. Loaded a dozen 180gr Horn JHP (dual crimp) over 18.0gr IMR 4227 set off by Win Small Rifle primers just to get a feel for the gun. Shot at 25 yds to determine POI -- first shot at top, then bottomed out rear sight for remaining six. Shot the remaining six at targets of opportunity out to 125 yds -- the gun seems to shoot like a laser. I would expect accuracy to improve with a bit of load development and more trigger time for me. I tried a few loads in my new Ruger Blackhawks Bisley 5 1/2" 41mag. Unfortunately it did not impress me in the least. It needs a taller front sight, the front sight is also bent or installed in the base at a slight angle which makes it lean to the right. I also noticed a burr on the edge of five of the six bolt notches of the cylinder. Those weren't there before I started. This is a brand new gun and the first time out. Any advice?

I finally found a 165 gr. hunting load for my Tikka T3 30-06 that I'm satisfied with. I've got quite a few loads using IMR 4064 which shoot great, but the velocity wasn't much better than what I get from my .308s (about 2640 fps). I'd tried IMR 4350 and Accurate 4350 but the accuracy was only about 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards (I know, eye roll!) Well, yesterday I tried a friends stash of H 4350 and everything clicked! All three shot groups were under 1 inch (more like 1/2 inch) and the velocity matches what I've been getting from factory loads. Yep, I'm taking it deer hunting this year!
Bullet: Speer 165 gr. BTSP Powder: Hodgdon H-4350 58.0 grs. Primer: Federal 210 Case: Norma New (Headspace - 2.042 with Stoney Point) LOAL: 3.300 (2.691 base to ogive with Stoney Point gage) Avg. Velocity: 2806.44 fps Extreme Spread: 22.07 Standard Deviation: 12.16
Oh... that 8 pound jug of H 4350 belongs to me now!
3 shots @100 yards

That's the first time I have seen a skelotonized hammer on a sixgun. Is it primarily for looks? Nice shooting by the way!

That is a good go to load for the 44 eskimo36, I've found that if a 44 magnum will not shoot a 240jhp over 24 grs of 296 or h110 accurately, that there is something wrong with the gun and or the guy behind it! Nice load choice sir.

wyo, a machinist friend did that for me 30 years ago to lessen the the hammer strike disturbance. I'm not sure it accomplishes what it intended but it shoots great.

I have a 3 screw Blackhawk with a Burris Fast Fire 3 on it. Took it out today and checked my zero at 50 yards. It was a tad higher than i wanted so I lowered it just a bit. Then backed up to 100 and fired this 5 shot group. It’s a little low so i probably shouldnt have brought it down quite so much at 50, but it’ll do for today. I need to load some more ammo for it and try again. That’s 17 grains of 296 with a 158 grain JHP.

Took the Wichita Arms 30-30 single shot out today and shot it a few times at 50 yards. I fired 5 shots with some jacketed handloads that came with the gun, then switched to some of my cast loads, then fired one more round of the jacketed ammo. The sixth shot was in the orange. The others are my first 5. That’s a 2” square. I feel like that’s pretty decent considering this is the first time I’ve fired this gun other than to just make sure it functioned. Here is a fire ball i caught on camera when shooting the cast loads. And a quick video: youtu.be/_PFQU63wKmc

Not today but saturday I had my Ruger SBH Bisley Hunter 45 colt out checking the sights and load in anticipation of deer season opening in a couple weeks. To my suprise I was still able to keep 6/6 inside 3”-4” in a 7” plate at 50yds. The load was a good dose of H110 under a 330gr LFN Ruger ONLY bullet. Now if I could get back my 100yd shots honed again. Come one deer season

Got a little work done with my 30 BR hunting rifle this weekend, mainly fire-forming brass. The rifle shot well and the stubby little 30 BR cartridge feeds from the magazine (shocked!). The barrel doesn't seem to copper foul at all. Still more work to do, would love to take it deer hunting this year but I don't know if I've got enough time to work up a good load. I've got to find a suitable scope too, the 36X Weaver on it right now isn't suitable for hunting deer. Need to get some Nosler 125 gr. Ballistic Tips and use more powder! Bullet: Speer 125 gr. TNT Powder: H4198 31.0 grs. Primer: Federal 205 Case: Lapua 6mmBR Reformed LOAL: 2.265 (1.700 Base to Ogive)

I went to a friends house and took my 44spl Bisley, 41mag Bisley Hunter, and the 44mag Bisley Hunter. I was out tuning myself to my 44spl. At the end of the 44spl session I hit my 8” plate 4/5 times at 75yds sitting on the ground but no back rest. I was quite impressed with the gun, load, and myself. It was a real comfidence booster with our gun season right around the corner.

Got lucky and managed to snag a discontinued Leupold VX-2 6-18X on sale. Much better for hunting than the Weaver I was using. Gun shoots great but it was way too windy to shoot any good groups today, still - not bad! Bullet: Speer 125 gr. TNT Powder: H4198 32.5 grs. Primer: Federal 205 Case: Lapua 6mmBR Reformed LOAL: 2.265 (1.700 Base to Ogive) Average Velocity: 2897.17 fps Extreme Spread: 8.32 Standard Deviation: 3.00
