I don't consider myself a potstirrer but I just can't resist.... And no, this is not photoshopped......... I very highly doubt that is a factory barrel.

You care enough to say you don't care. That I did, making a point. Whether original or not, I know what they mean. If it means something to somebody, thats cool, it just doesnt to me. But then, I dont much care if the sun dont rise.

BTW, the LC or Long Colt stamped on a Colt needs to be FACTORY done, and not be a custom barrel.

Ha! I must confess...it is a Stroh custom...but it is a Colt that says Long Colt. If we are really going to be sticklers about what we call things, we all should quit saying '44 Special'.... If you look at any original 1st Gen Colt SAA or the S&W Triple Lock, they don't say 44 Special, they say 44 S&W Special. Oh, and who started this whole "Colt Lightweight Commander" thing?? Originally there was the Colt Commander and Combat Commander. We should quit saying Lightweight... As far me, when I was a little kid I called it the '45 Long Colt'. As an adult, I prefer 45 Colt. I don't give a ratsass what anyone else calls it. The only thing that bugs me is when...oh no...I'm not falling for that one! You know how it goes...when people know what bugs you, they go out of their way to do it! Now that I've stirred the pot, I'm going back to the workbench!

If you choose to avoid either moniker you could call it: A- 32.6mm ( case length ) B- 40.6mm ( overall length ) Or if you choose to call it what it is based on bullet diameter you could call it: 11.5mm

Fine looking handgun.
I'm pretty sure at one time there were enough varieties of Colt in 45 floating around that the moniker long colt stuck when picking up a box at the hardware store. I recall seeing a 450 Colt headstamp some where, had a friend with a 455 Colt. Having worked in a hardware store, I can imagine the conversation. Some cowboy says gime a box of 45 Colt, clerk says, the automatic, the 455 or the long one? Gimme the long ones the cowboy would reply. One box of 45 long colt coming up.
It aint a reach to see it happening, but some folks can be a little OCD about things. I was with a Lincoln Electric rep years ago in a bar. He asked the waitress, do you have coors light in the can or bottle? No sir but we have it on tap. He said I'll just have a water then. I asked, why does it have to be can or bottle? He said so I know it's really coors light. I said okay, if you cant tell a coors light from a miller on the tap, then why does it matter? He said, because I dont drink anything but coors light. I said, but if you cant tell, why not just get a beer and dont worry? He said but I like coors light, and thats all I like. If she gives me one on tap, it might not be coors light. I replied but you cant tell the frikken difference, so who cares? He said I do, because I only drink coors light. He was serious as a heart attack.

? You really love that handle... Not really, but it stays until my challenge is met. I knew Mike was having us on with his "Long Colt" New Frontier. But like my wife says when I ask silly questions, "don't worry about it".
