saw the weather last night... I know this sounds crazy... but you're lucky... I saw some -56 & -57 temps, in the middle of the state... at that cold, LP gas won't vaporize... in MN a couple years ago we hit the low -50's for a little over a day, & it carboned up my furnace after a day of barely burnable LP how do you heat up there??? it's funny, you don't see many buried LP gas tanks in my area, but the furnace burns so much better if the tank can be kept at -30 or -40... if it goes -50 the dang stuff won't vaporize... you'd think a buried tank would be something of a necessity in the areas that get this cold... Oil heat and folks will supplement with wood. No propane heat really. Some folks have propane range. Some natural gas in a few areas. Ya, in some areas around here, cold pockets, it's been 52 below or colder. and there are some who live in dry cabins with a Toyo oil burner and an outhouse.

I can close my eyes and smell a woodfire down below in the timber, and hear the hiss of a white gas stove when up in the clouds. Don't forget the sheep ribs and backstrap!

I will get a picture this weekend l. It's a matte finished 24" barrel and synthetic stocked. It's a utilitarian type rifle in a great caliber. Cool. Sounds perfect. I heard about a few synthetic stocked Rossi/Puma 92's in 454. Hadn't heard of one on the 480. My 20" 454 is stainless/wood HiViz sites. I'd like to have synthetics just cuz.

I have a Handi rifle that David Clements built in 475 Linebaugh for himself. I have a lot of rifles but that rifle can carry the water in just about any situation. Pics...specs??

I've been spending some time over at www.assra.com forums. Seems like a good bunch over there. Like here but dedicated to single shot rifles. This gun is one worth keeping the way it is and loading and shooting it for what it was designed for. If I remember right that's a 65-75 gr cast with the twist of this barrel. One problem I have is that I can't see the front bead with my eyes! TeenieTiny lyman sight.

Rossi apparently made 100 model 92s in 480, but I have never seen one. I knew they made some but only 100? wow I snagged one of the 454's from the same time frame.

Why can't Bowen have reboring done anymore? I know for a fact a few are coming through the line again, I have shot on a couple occasions a newly build Ruger Redhawk in 50sp with a rebored factory barrel. It sat at Bowen's waiting for the reboring problem to get sorted out for 3 years but Bowen came through in the end. This is good news. Maybe he's got things squared away again but hasn't updated the website.

I kinda' thought the same thing but if I really wanted to sell it after months on the site I'd put it back on. I tried to contact them months ago just to see if it was still for sale, kinda' just to see and never got a response. It may not even be for sale any longer.....price is high anyhow...but now that you can't get the barrels bored.... I was wondering what the deal was with it. As far as price, $7-800 for a 5.5 Redhawk. It looks like the basic 5 shot conversion with rebore is $1895, the Kodiak is $2495 which has the overtravel screw which this one has. Hard to say what the conversion would cost. But, like you mentioned, Bowen does not/cannot do the rebore of the factory barrel anymore. $2500 might be closer if it's nice.
