I'll 2nd Sixshot's recommendation. The more vertical front post face almost partridge style is easier to focus on particularly at our age. Good call, I am having trouble with the sight picture. I absolutely need cheaters to read anymore and shooting with iron sights is becoming more challenging.

That's a great idea, but does it have to be heated to remove the old sight, and solder the new on?

Thanks for all the tips, I'll have to order that from Brownells.
Funny, I remember the fourth of July parade in 1976. I was 5 years old and still remember where we were standing and asking what bicentennial meant.

Thanks on the comments. At 52, I still have a lot of years left to spend exploring the back country. My one bucket list item I want to do this summer is check out the China Wall in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. As a crow flies, it's only 65 miles from home, but the route I want to take I have a 3 hour drive to get to the trailhead. Might try it over Labor Day weekend with my son. It was intimidating to actually decide to move across the country but I have no regrets. Divorced, Daughter outside of Houston, son in Casper Wyoming. There wasn't really much left for me in upstate NY so it was "Go West Young Man" for me. I'm packing my Alan Harton custom .44 special with Buffalo Bore ammo. Both gun and leather are already starting to take on the patina of use. This was taken when I just bought the holster.

Local pawn shop had a NM SBH. I couldn't pass it up. The previous owner had done some work on the grips to make a better handhold on it. I think it adds to the character of it. I do need to find a new front site insert if anyone has any recommendations. Put my cheaters on last night and noticed the engraving on the top of the barrel that says made in the 200th year of American Liberty. Can anyone shed any light on that?

So that sums up the last few months for me. I feel like I'm finally "on plane" to use a boating term and looking forward to catching up on what's been going on here on the forum!

Well it's been a couple months since I browsed this forum, but with after packing up and moving 2200 miles across the country, A new job, and exploring the backcountry around here I've been a little busy. I just have to share some pictures of what has kept me from the forum. The scenery here is absolutely beautiful!!! I have no regrets on the move out here and have met some fantastic people. Also have to say how nice it is to live in a free state unlike the B.S. in the Northeast. My ride into the backcountry. My other horse is currently on her way here and will arrive 3 days. This has to be one of my favorite pictures. He is definitely mans best friend. We've been together for 10 years. He is a Black Mouth Cur. I have another as well, but she is only two years old. And just some more pics of where I spend my weekends

Only in America can you make a picture of a steer with a pink nose and sell it on the internet. That's not a pink nose, that's the steers tongue!
