I need to stay off the forums. I have everything I need for hunting, camping, hiking, backpacking, and horse trips. I do NOT NEED another gun. But every time I see another different custom, I WANT another gun. Same with Barranti and all the other custom holster makers...... Holster porn...... My bank account cant keep up with my wish list......
Your all a bunch of ENABLERS!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for a great forum!!!

Yes, but the wear on a gun like that is also an extremely attractive patina. Honest wear, not rust or blue that came off from blood or other liquid has a great look that has you think the gun has a story to tell. I do like honest wear on a gun as much as a fresh bluing and case hardening.

500fksjr........I know what you mean. Very easy to drop a lot of funds when you are there in person. I was given a tour of the shop, met Doug, and was treated like royalty. But what really impressed me was the gentleman that spent the time with me talked and toured and spent a lot of time without once looking at his watch or take a phone call. Like he was there to entertain me without regard for coffee break, lunch, spending too much time with customers that were not looking to buy at that time. That customer service left a lasting impression with me. I asked if they had a brochure on the open range and they printed out, while I was waiting, a large poster style print that I was able to frame. Over the counter frames did not match the pic size, but if I had a custom frame done you would not see the white on top and bottom. Congrats on ordering a great revolver and know that their operation is a first class, top notch company.

Just to make the wait more painful :-) Good luck with your new purchase. They are a really well put together firearm and you will be happy with it.

Found a link on another site. It is a Montana PBS story about Smoke Elser and packing into "The Bob". I watched most of it and found it very interesting. Thought some here might like it as well. watch.montanapbs.org/video/2176749351

This is a Turnbull Open Range. 5.5" barrel, .45LC. Nice. Is this going to be the "one"? I couldn't help but take notice of your comment in the 1923 44 spec SAA thread just a few days back. I came to a similar realization a while ago and I'm in the midst of the same process. No, this is not "The One". This one will probably be up on the chopping block soon. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to get down to the one. I will probably have one in .22,.32,.357, and .44. At least for now. I don't think that is all too bad. But if it ever came to the one it would be my .44 Special with the #5 gripframe and octoganol barrel from Alan Harton

I would love to get a big buck to hang on the wall. But I am not patient enough nor do I have enough time to. I hunt to put one in the freezer every year. After I get one in the freezer, I dont need another so I hunt to just get out there and would only take a large antlered buck. So in a sense, its my excuse to stay in the woods and enjoy my time out there.

This is a Turnbull Open Range. 5.5" barrel, .45LC. When I ordered it, I ordered a bisley hammer to go on it. Last time I was at Turnbull's, they said they could no longer make them with the bisley hammer as their source was now selling them as a production hammer to another company. Some kind of legalities. So anyway, here it is.

My O.M. that I believe David Clements put the birdshead grip and bisley hammer on. This one has spent a lot of miles horseback with me.

.32 Mag. Grips by Josh Jollie of RJ Custom Knives. SBH style hammer made by Alan Harton. This sixgun is actually back at Alan's waiting to get an Octogan barrel put on it.
