Wasn't a fan of that Westinghouse yellow, but those grips are top drawer.
Years ago Melvin Tyler of Tyler T grips had a supply of that Westinghouse yellow material. No idea what a source today would be.

The 4" pictured above appears to be wearing an old set of Nills. The 2.75" are Herretts.

I get it! Not a happy solution I was hoping for a better fix, I think the new J adjustables have the rounded new style sight. We march on!

Apparently mhblaw doesn't understand the concept of a "Smith and Wesson Kit Gun". But that's ok. A 3" adjustable sighted J frame 357 at 25 ozs is a handy piece of "kit" in the bush.
I find the weight comfortable and the versatility reassuring.
DL Sports come to mind if I can't get this adjustable to work properly.

Appreciate all the input, looks like I will be doing some experimentation to make sure this Smith has a zero that won't be jumping from "place to place". First adjustable sighted J frame I've ever owned.

I purchased a Smith 60-15 3" adjustable sighted model. Obtained and pinned in a new proper height front sight. It had a great FO front sight except the gun shot 10-12" high at 15 yds. Front sight too short.
New proper front sight in place. Gun was now shooting low at 15 to 20 yds. Rear sight elevation screw was bottomed out. As I began to make upward turns on the elevation screw the sight blade did not come up. Upon examining the rear sight, the elevation screw was not in contact with the frame of the weapon.
Simply put; what the heck is going on? Does anyone have a schematic of how this sight works, for the J frame adjustable is not the same sight as the K,L,N.
I'm at a loss as how to fix this issue. I just want a sight that I can zero.
FWIW the gun likes jacketed heavier bullets, and cannot abide lead bullets.
Thanks For Your Help. I need to understand the construction of this sight so I can fix it.

Out in the woods a 4" Model 69 44. Other outdoor activities in 60-15 3" 357. Around town, when I go there, 640 Pro.

I likw the new sights, much easier for me to see, and it appears to give greater precision. Good job. The action and subsequent targets I will be interested in seeing.

Call to Smith and Wesson this morning revealed the correct height to be .270 inches. Smiths customer rep is sending me a free front sight. How cool!

I posted a question in the gunsmithing section as to asking if anyone knew the proper front sight height for a Smith 60-15. One poster who told me the method to determine proper sight height.
But no precise measuring instruments left after reloading room sell off, I went elsewhere.
Brownells and Midway attempted to sell me a HiViz sight for my J frame that fit the 2 1/8" barrel model. Computer chat boxes and phone screeners were little to no help. Both companies did not comprehend the adjustable sight part.
Called Smith and Wesson customer service. They had the sight height .270 and also are sending me a free front sight, and I didn't even have to ask!
That's more like it!

Long story short I purchased a Model 60-15 for a new woods bummin gun. Used but barely, very little evidence of use. Action rougher than a cob, boy Smith how far you have fallen. Smoothed up the internals with an India stone and a 14 pound rebound spring. Lots of time spent on high rough areas of hammer, trigger, side plate. Touched no cocking notches on hammer or trigger. Action much better now will let time and ammo finish the process.
To the subject at hand: The gun came with a FO front sight that is green and lovely to look at and through. However, the firearm shoots 8 to 10 inches high at 15 yds. with 357s. Nice groups. The FO appears to be a Dawson sight. I should mention rear sight is bottomed out. Smith and Wesson website is totally lacking in replacement info as far as proper sight height or part number.
Anybody have a clue as to what is the proper sight height for this nice little trail gun.

I've used a couple of the "original precision" Kits. One on a 4.25" 69 and it works great. Cleaned up the action a bit, but noticable. The other on a J frame and no problem.
FWIW I love my 69 44 Mag. great shooter and nice to pack. Smaller real estate signature on your belt, and handier.
