Man, no diss on S&W. They make good strong revolvers. But Ruger makes tanks of revolvers!

So I call Shenanigans here. Smiths are very strong, but my understanding is Ruger's are in fact stronger and can handle hotter loads. Interested in everyone's thoughts here. From what I read on John Linebaugh's webpage and from discussions with JRH, Bowen, and Reeder, as well as reading books from Max Prasac, I say the Yank is off-base here.

That 45Colt-410 vented rib could be a contender for the Ugly Gun Award. Is it a wannabe shotgun or a wannabe revolver? I do not understand, and will never understand, this obsession with .410 revolvers. People act like it's the equivalent of 12 gauge!

Funny you should say that... I just ordered my Range Officer today! Got the wife's okay (provided certain agreements) and I found it at grabagun for $748. Can't beat that price!!!

LMAO! I can see that. I bought a BFR on .500 JRH for the whole John Linebaugh way of thinking:. Powerful, practical, and packable.
If I got a .460 or .500 S&W, it would be a range/distance toy.

Any other opinions? Just curious.

So I'm curious what is better and why for the .460 S&W Mag anf the .500 S&W Mag. I'd think the BFR would soak up more abuse from tough loadings better, but it lacks a muzzle break and has those super long cylinders. Does the BFR or X-Frame have any real advantage over the other or is it a case of 6-of-one-or-a-half-dozen-of-the-other situation that really comes down to prefetences?

Yeah, the fact that it had an issue is fine. That happens. But having it sent back 3 times with the error not corrected is not okay with me.
As for it being a more expensive model... Not really. These Bisley exclusives are pretty pricey and while I will admit the SRH is a little more expensive, not by much from what I've seen. They are within $100 of one another.
And again, I am happy with Ruger's response. They are taking the issue seriously and have moved to a resolution in a very fast manner.

That's why I'm leaning towards an SRH. I have two and they're great. Hell, all my other Ruger stuff is great! Hence my disappointment. They're usual MO has provided me excellent firearms and service.

I got my Ruger .480 Bisley back last night for the third time. My front sight was canted to the right when looking through the rear sight. And for the third time, I pulled it out of the box and compared it to my .44 SBH, my Single Six, and my BFR and it still is canted. The other three are perfectly straight. And despite the tech replacing the barrel and the sight base, and being the same person to work on it all 3 times, it's still not right. So I emailed a strong note on the Ask The CEO site and called this morning to send it back again.
I'm done. This is the 4th return and I've had enough. I asked for a refund. They mentioned they might offer a replacement or a different model. I'm so frustrated that I really don't want another Bisley. I might request a .480 Super Redhawk, but I also might just take the refund and go buy the .475 Linebaugh BFR.
What would you guys do? Maybe the front sight shouldn't be such a big deal, but I'm tired of the run around. I want a .480/.475 so what do you guys think? Whitworth?

I appreciate the input guys. It probably isn't going to matter now, though. I have sent my Bisley in 3 times to get my front sight straight as it's canted and all 3 times it came back still canted. Got it back last night, shipped it out again this morning for the 4th time. I am requesting a rwfund at this point. Enough is enough.

Has anyone converted their .480 Ruger Bisley into a .475 Linebaugh? Just curious.
