Turnbull has had a handful of those for sale on their site.
Interesting gun I didn’t know existed before then.

Hard to tell what work was done besides grip mod, base pin, and sights. Work was enough to warrant the Linebaugh etching.

My question was a general one. I certainly didn't quote anyone other than myself and I'm still simply curious. There has been posts on this thread and the "Information" had been around for years. I realize that there are manufacturers who chose not to chamber certain cartridges in Contenders. That is their right as it should be. There are certain consumers who don't care to own Contenders chambered in certain calibers. Also something that is a choice. But, when I read to "avoid" certain cartridges or that something is unsafe at factory levels, I simply want to know where the information comes from. Unfortunately, we live in a world where many believe their choice is right and to be imposed as a rule or law. My beliefs can be changed or modified if I learn something new. I don't tend to alter my ways based on conjecture. This way of thinking isn't new. Go back and read the development of 45 Colt +P Loads. Now, it's common place and loading manuals list different level loads for specific guns. Ditto on the 45-70 and others. Even after years of shooting Contenders I'm ready to learn something new if it's fact based. But, "They Say" doesn't work if we don't know who "They" are and where the information came from. Any word on the 250AI in a Contender? I've heard the arguments about how increased performance is mostly just running the pressures up, but also how the straightened case causes less back thrust. I don't know. Some of this stuff is like BBQ techniques: redneck musings given and taken as gospel. For that matter, 6.5-250 AI. The 250 AI case being dimensionally nearly identical to the Creedmoor, that's a lot to get out of a Contender.

Well, I think all you can do is sell the gun then get a flat top Bisley, add a RW PJ grip frame in the material of your choice and have Ronnie (immaculately) cut you the grips of your liking.
If only you had a buyer lined up for this gun...

I can't tell, but that frame looks like the factory metal work has been cleaned up. Nice looking gun.

Love the grips.
If you really want to improve the aesthetics of a BFR, I recommend a flap holster.

Rowland? I have 45 Colts for that I guess.
The 625 is the only gun I'd consider making a 460, and it's not that I don't have more powerful DAs but that the moon clips are nice.

Did you try the ammo in another 44 and chronograph that? Some guns just shoot slower.
That is a nearly 90 fps spread too. Wouldn't make me particularly happy.

The other great attribute of using red dot sights is one is no longer dependent of sight radius for finer mechanical precision in aiming. Even small guns with short barrels can work well This is a Model 34-1 with a short section of rail that shaped and screwed to fit the mortice for the rear sight. Yep And accuracy isn't a function of barrel length (to a point) Big bores are still perfectly effective with short barrels You can recoup some lost velocity of a short barrel by how the revolver is built And this is why I want a 3 inch FA97 round butt aluminum grip frame in 45 Colt with a reflex sight. Also why I put together a short barreled S&W 69 with an RMR.

Leupold 26mm rings have proven elusive. An offset ring was needed anyway, and the odds of finding an offset 26mm leupold ring are extremely slim. For now I've modified EGW delrin 26/30mm inserts so they don't stick out beyond the rings. I left tabs to help locate the inserts. This is just a mockup as there is a mismatch between the front and rear rings such that I'll need a medium front ring and a low rear ring. You can see the skewed angle this causes in the rear ring. Gloss offset rings are not to be found, but these can be massaged to blend with the look of the gun. The Kahles has great eye relief, nice heavy crosshairs, a large, clear image, and despite some yellowing from age compares very favorably in low light to good modern scopes. A scope that leaves performance on the table tends to be left at home come time to hunt. This scope is still worth taking hunting. I especially like the fact that you turn the entire bell to change the power vs the ring you see on modern scopes.

I don't think there's a better site for a gun like that than GB or the Ruger forum.
I think that's a great looking gun, and agree you won't get your money back out of it.
If this gun has sentimental value, and because you're likely to be significantly upside down on it: Take this gun for yourself Sell another gun(s) that you're not attached to or that you can turn a good profit on to "buy" this gun for whatever you think it's worth AKA what he needs because that's what dads do. Son gets money, you keep this Ruger and maybe pass it down again when the time is right.

There’s a guy over on accurate shooter that 3D prints all kinds of reloading and storage solutions.
I’ll see if I can find his ad.
Edit: search function over there is doing me no favors, but I think he's posted in the last month.

Love the drawings, especially the sense of action of the second. The more I look, the better the detail. Parts have a graffiti artist look, which I am partial to.
David, did y'all ever collaborate on any ballistic art?
