Dick, cast bullets are what you do.
I don’t think you have a choice.
Any time I’ve been dialed in with my pistol but decided to take the shot with a rifle instead, I’ve regretted it.

If I didn’t have one, I’d have pushed it to the mid to upper $3k range.
Thankfully house guests arrived in time to keep me from bidding higher!
They’re high quality, brilliantly designed, unique guns that you just don’t see come up for sale.
Buy one when you see one- that’s the advice Ronnie gave me when I was working a deal on mine.

Dustin guns rarely come up for sale and seem to bring replacement cost as a floor- that is base gun plus build cost. No discounts here on the secondary market like you see with other customs.

I was just thinking about the screwless SAA yesterday and wondering if Harton could make me one out of an Italian flat top target. Killer gun.

Bob's videos never get old My pair: 7.5 inch 45 Colt Vaqueros with Power Custom 2 piece grip frames and ebony grips. Only one of my guns has an action as slick- a Bowen SBH. I really need to get these sent off for barrel shortening and warning removal plus real CCH.

If it fits physically, you can down load anything to safe levels.
I've seen one 50 cal contender barrel, but I'm not nearly as experienced as y'all when it comes to these. At 37 years old, I wasn't there during the heyday.
But I strongly prefer the Contender to the Encore and really to any other specialty pistol, so getting the most out of one holds a lot of interest to me. For now, that's a 7-30 Waters, not because it's the absolute top of the heap but because it's close and easy.
Still, I enjoy learning what can be done. Appreciate the responses.

Curious what's on the list of "pushing it" for contender frames? G2 frames? Lots of varying info out there based on what custom smiths will and won't do, so I realize the list isn't carved in stone.
I think I've seen some 50 cal Contender barrels 300 Savage 444 family?
What else?

Most cedar is very soft and the parts that are hard are often brittle. Some people have an allergic reaction to it (though with a finish that's mitigated).
Think back to all the old cedar chests you see around. What's the condition of the wood? Dented and scratched typically, to a much greater degree than you'd see on a similar oak or walnut piece.
That's good looking cedar with many uses, but the only time I'd think to use it for grips is if it was stabilized first.

Pretty neat set. Been keeping my eye on those knowing I don't have a gun to put them on and don't need to carry a revolver with an extra pound of metal bolted on.
Like them though.

I think that gun will look better with round, ribbed, or ovate barrel compared to an octagon.
Might install a max length ERH, have the barrel chopped to ERH length, and upgrade the front sight.
Re-polishing the grip frame to high gloss is probably going to leave you with a poorer main frame to grip frame fit, which can't be corrected without re-coloring which defeats the purpose of a Turnbull factory Ruger.
My list would be: chop barrel to max ERH length, nice walnut grips, new front sight, cylinder flutes and BP chamfer without refinishing the whole gun.
But I don't think you'll go wrong however you have it done. With that base gun, it's going to turn out nice.

It sure can. A friend had his rechambered to 454 Casull. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but he's never had any problems with his. They build those guns in the Short Magnums, so... They build the low wall in a WSM that’s not the 17WSM? Biggest I’ve seen are the 308/6.5 Swede family

I have the same gun and never found a clear statement on Ruger only loads.
My only complaint is zero provisions for optics. Nice little gun otherwise.

From a safety perspective, it seems like they'd have until they're about to turn the gas main back on to tag out individual buildings.
Nothing on fire there, at least not with the gas off.
