I have had an order in for a new Colt SAA for several months now. Does anyone know if they are available anywhere. My FFL dealer has looked a few places and he can't come up with one. I emailed Bob Munden about other things and he say Colt's concentrated on their 1911s this year, but thinks they will start in on the SAA more this year.

Unfortunately I have only seen them online or in magazines. If there is someone in MT who has one and would be so willing I wouldn't mind trying it.

Comparing the Keith #5 Grip Frame to the Bisley made by Ruger which is more comfortable to you. The reason I am asking is eventually I will have an OM 357 converted to 44 Special and see that Power Custom makes a #5 frame that could go on it. I already have a Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt and really like how it feels and handles recoil, but I have been reading about the #5 for at least 30 years and how good it is.
What's you opinion?

OK. I finally got the info on the load I shot. It was factory 260g Winchester.

I can't say anything about the 480, but in 454 Casull the recoil was not too bad.

What is the difference between what the factories do and what is safe in a 6 shot revolver?

I don't know what the loads were as I was just shooting a few rounds with a friends Alaskan. I know the loads fired in the Taurus were factory, but can't for sure about the Alaskan. I can't tell the weight of the bullet either. For some reason I didn't ask.
The Nastiest load for me in my 29 were max loaded 180s. (Using Horandy Data.) They really snapped back.

I recently fired a Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull. I was surprised out how controllable it was. I have read that the 454 is very hard to control and has a nasty recoil, but of the two I have shot (Taurus and the Alaskan) I would rather shoot them then my 4" 29.
So, I was wondering what your experiances with various 454 recoil was like?

Yeah. He let my uncle and I try the action on his M29 when we were dropping off some guns. After that my uncle had him do his S&W and I sent my K22 down later. I personally have never felt a better double action pull.

While I have both, nothing beats a nice blued gun in my opinion.
