Comparing the Keith #5 Grip Frame to the Bisley made by Ruger which is more comfortable to you. The reason I am asking is eventually I will have an OM 357 converted to 44 Special and see that Power Custom makes a #5 frame that could go on it. I already have a Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt and really like how it feels and handles recoil, but I have been reading about the #5 for at least 30 years and how good it is.
What's you opinion?

I think the Ruger Bisley gripframe is a result of the #5, an improved version made for more normal sized hands.
Saying that I don't think a #5 gripframe is a bad Idea for a custom, far from it, lots of stock bisleys out there can't say the same for the #5s.

It is the old boxers or briefs question.. Personally I like boxers with my dress pants and briefs with my jeans.. For single action grip frames I also like the #5 and the Ruger Bisley. For me the #5 is fine up to Skeeter's 44 Special load. The Ruger Bisley is my preferred shape when recoil levels are beyond that.. Another shooter can tell you what they think and it might influence your initial selection process but only you can determine the final conclusion.. Boxers? Briefs?

No question, in my experience the Ruger Bisley is much better in the thumpers than the #5. That said, the 44 Special, even stiff, is not a thumper so the standard Ruger grip frame with either the XR3 or XR3Red gets the nod. In my hand the #5 is nothing more than nostalgic.

I have a Clements #5 grip frame on an OM .44 FT and I really like it. It fits my hand better than the Bisley on my .45 Vaquero. I also like the way it points, more naturally on target for me.
I have large palms and short fingers and the Bisley is a little big around for my hand. I think thinner stocks for the Bisley would help in my case.
Definately boxers or briefs question.

I agree with everything said. Bisleys are better for heavy hitters, which the 44 special is not. If you are building a true custom, I would go with the #5 grip frame. Like you I had read about and heard about Elmer's gun as long as I have been interested in sixguns. Until I had one built, I never scratched the itch. My Power Custom #5 is by far my favorite handgun now.

if you live close enough to somebody who has one or four (axehandle) the best thing to do is to actually handle one. i got to fondle those of axehandle's and got me a 44 special blackhawk and a power number five grip frame. haven't gotten it done yet but will one of these days. to me the number five is better proportioned to the mid frame guns than the bisley, but i also have smallish hands. i never get tired of seeing that 41 bowen number five of robbs
