I've had him work on 3 of my revolvers; a Ruger New Vaquero 45 Colt, A Ruger Bisley 45 Colt and a S&W K22. Very nice work on all three. In addition to doing an action job on the Bisley I also had him put a free spin pall in it and recut the chambers. I also had him site in the Vaquero.
The only problem with Bob, and it really isn't a problem, is he only works on certain types of guns. The ones he works on are the ones he has basically taught himself to fix. I asked him about working on other brands/models, but he said he will not experiment on others guns learning how to do it. Something I give him credit for. He mentioned he is no longer working on Marlins, but you never know.
When I talked to him in January he mentioned how Diabetes was taking its toll on him and I see on the latest episode of "Impossible Shots" he mentions needing a kidney transplant. I'm sure good thoughts and prayers would help him get through this ordeal.

It would be nice to look at, but Shedhorn is ~300 miles from here. Maybe time for a road trip will come up. Their used price is more than the MSRP from Colt however.

I don't have just one favorite. My longtime go to powder has been Unique & I still use a lot of it. When we had the big powder shortage a while back I tried Herco because that's what I could buy. & I kind of like it. Bob Munden suggested I try Titegroup, I did & I like it too. Trailboss great for light practice loads HS6 I'm liking it more & more A powder I don't shoot too much, but it gives powerful loads & you absolutely won't go over pressure in Colt & Colt clones, is: 35grs GOEX 3FG I'd hate to have to use only one. Frank Bob Munden sighted mine in using Tiegroup too so that is what I have stuck with. Haven't been disappointed, but these are light loads. If memory serve 750fps with 250g bullet.

That is the problem I am faced with. I can't find anyplace as yet in MT that has either one so it is hard to compare to the other.

How well was the trigger improved? I haven't measured the weight but it isn't the smoothest trigger out there. The trigger is the only thing I have problems with on the revolver.

What would be the correct size for chamber throats to barrel. For example, my Ruger 44 Special is .431 to .429 respectively. I was told that is really good.

LOL Yeah, you are right. I just never thought of them. My question is then will they smooth up the action or keep it at what came from the factory. I know. I know. Call them and ask.

Thanks Frank
As far as "Bar' Killin" goes the 45 Colt in standard loads has accounted for grizzlies and blackies over the years. I recall a story of a fella in MT some 70-100 years ago killing 3 with 3 shot from his Colt SAA in 45 Colt. He was packing in and encountered the sow and cubs in his path. From what I can recall I think he was on his horse at the time. Good horse!
However, if I was going looking for a bear I would like somthing a little more substantial.

Can someone suggest a good gunsmith for the Colt Anaconda?

We just have black bear around here although the grizzlies keep getting closer. Lions are the other minor concern and now we have wolves too.
I already have several Rugers in the mentioned calibers. I have always wanted a SAA, but have avoided the Colt because of Colt's reputation for a while of producing guns of lesser quality, but charging a lot for them. When USFA came about I thought that would be an option, but marriage and kids slowed down the purchase.
Now it is looking like I'll be able to swing one or the other so was wondering which was the better quality. For what the USFA costs now I think I will go for the Colt if the quality is there. The reason I asked the question. It seems from your answers it is.
Thank you for your help.

I don't shoot Cowboy Action. Mainly I carry my Single Actions when I am rifle hunting or wandering in the mtns. Sometimes switching to a Mod 29 S&W. Per my wifes instructions I also have to carry when bowhunting due to close bear encounters I have told her about.
She is a little put out with me now because I am going to Alaska to hunt with a friend near Nome, but am only planning on taking my rifle. She wants me to have a handgun too.

I asked the same question on another site. Basically I was told by a writer that they don't say bad things in print, but will give the maker a chance to fix the problem. If they don't and it goes out to the public the public will turn away after finding the gun is no good.
I think that is a terrible thing since the public will have to shell out their money to find out what the writer already knows because they don't want to lose advertisement money.
I brought up the car magazines too that don't seem to worry about that, but print there findings as is.

It would be nice to be able to compare the two side by side, but I don't know of anywhere in MT that keeps boths in stock in order to do that.
