Had a chance to handle a late production Stainless 44 Magnum Virginian Dragoon today. The lock up was OUTSTANDING, and the fit and finish seemed very, very good to me (although I haven't had the chance to handle many real high end custom Single actions).
Price seemed reasonable enough given where I live. SOOOO tempted to buy it, but I just can't get past the 7 1/2" barrel. If it were shorter, I'd have it here with me now.
Been looking on line for a shorter stainless 44 barrel, but no luck. If I could score one cheap enough, I'd go back and snag it.

She's a beautiful old ship. I see her almost every day driving over the Tobin Bridge into Boston. No matter how many times (100's and 100's) of times I drive by, I always look to my left to admire her.
Great photo.

As John Bianchi & Skeeter Skelton have said: Lining does not solve the problem of wear on the guns finish, rather it makes it worse, properly fitting holsters solve that problem. I have found this to be the case myself. Rob Leahy Maker, Simply Rugged Holsters ...and I've found all of my Simply Rugged holsters fit the guns VERY well. You can hold the holsters upside down and the guns stay put.

Nice looking pair, well thought out plan. Are these Simply Rugged holster's lined or unlined? They are unlined. Dang man, when I first saw this thread I thought the title was "Hooters (Fraternal Twins)". What a letdown. I think this "1/2 Caff" coffee just ain't cutting it... I like those kinds of "twins" to be identical !!

Received my latest sourdough pancake from Rob yesterday for my 5 1/2" Cap & Ball Remmington NMA clone. Just wanted to post a pic with it's fraternal twin 5 1/2" 1860 Army clone holster. Both holsters are set up with the "inside out" straps for IWB carry (but taken off for the pic). Amazed at how easy these are to carry IWB, and that Simply Rugged would be willing to make holsters for this pair. Thanks again Rob! The Remmie gets basket weave stamping, and the Colt gets fish scales. Very happy with this pair. Edit to add: The 44 Remmie was a surprise gift from my dad for my 44th birthday this year

I'll second the Simply Rugged. If you choose the Inside out straps, and wear it IWB, you just unsnap the two straps, and pull the gun and holster out together. The whole deal comes off in a matter of seconds.
I have (as of today....thanks Rob!) two for 5 1/2" revolvers. You'd be surprised how well IWB works for a gun that size.

Very sweet looking single six. I'd like to add one to my small stable some day.

I've got a Python with genuine Ivory, an Army Special with Eagle Ultra-Ivory, and have handled a USFA that had Bar S Tru-Ivory.
While I'd rate the Eagle Ultra Ivory at "pretty good, certainly better than most". The Bar S Tru-Ivory looks pretty darned close to the real thing. Close enough where you'd REALLY have to look up close to tell it's not the real deal.
I'm considering getting some Tru Ivories for my customized 1860 Army... or maybe some smooth or low bark stags.
Haven't seen any Holly grips in real life, but the ones I've seen in pictures sure look good as well.
I've seen pics of some kind of Paper Micarta that looks great too. I think Craig C has a set on a Blackhawk that look fantastic.

Mass has a lot going for it. It's crazy politicians are a serious detractor though. I can smell the freedom of N.H. just 4 miles up the road.
It's a frustrating place to be a gun owner.
... and when you do run into something nice that's "grandfathered".. be prepared to pay a black market price for it.

It's our A.G. here in Mass. that causes all the mayhem with handguns. Can't really hang that one on Romney, although he DID triple the price of a carry permit on us.
Our AG makes the manufactures submit a number of guns of each model and variation(and by variation, something as little as blue vs. stainless or night sights vs. standard sights, or even barrel length constitutes as different model) to be "tested" i.e. destroyed , and most manufactures (rightfully so) have told us to pound sand.
The only other option is to find a 38-40 that was in the state before Oct. of 1998. That would be grandfathered.

I was bit by the black powder bug recently. That big BOOM induces bigger smiles per trigger pull than anything I've ever experienced.

Love it ! ... and the grips look fantastic. Just the right amount of figuring in the wood. Very classy set up.
