Walked into a local Pawn Shop today expecting to find nothing. But, much to my surprise they had a Ruger 50th Anniversary 44 Magnum on display.
Lots of surface rust, but mechanically perfect. It was marked $429, so I asked for the lowest possible price.
I was stunned when he asked if it was worth $250 to me. I didn't hesitate one bit.
Got the gun home an went to cleaning. With a soft wire brush in a Dremel, the surface rust came right off leaving the bluing intact.
In the end, not perfect but in remarkably great shape.
Pictures to follow...

Wow, good on ya mate! Pics? Gotta see. Congrats, these days it seems to be much more difficult to find a fair deal much less a GOOD one!

Thanks Tim...
Clearly, the gun is not perfect. A few freckles and specks on the finish and the hammer needs replacing with a SBH Hammer.
But, no pitting, mechanically perfect, locks up tight, .0025" Barrel Gap and bore looks new.
I was thinking a base gun, but maybe not...

No, leave it as is, change the hammer, maybe grips, it looks amazing, like it cost $800 , nice score, something you can carry, and not care if it takes a little beating, wish I could find that kind of deal

Perfect candidate for upgrades. Ive seen a lot of these NIB. Not ever going to be a wild collectors item in this condition. Great score.

My first thought was a base gun to send JRH to line bore and rechamber to 45 Colt and slap on a new barrel.
Now, I'm thinking it's fine just as it is.
Guess I should have mentioned tax. Still a great deal...

I’m broke at the moment and I would have sprained my arm grabbing my wallet for that one!
Good buy. My brother has had one for years, 10 years ago my niece shot a big mule deer buck with it and a full Kieth load. I’d like to have it in my safe for sure.

I bought one when they came out. It's still unfired even though I bought it to use.
Will feel much better shooting this one.
Added a Belt Mountain #5 Base Pin and may get some grips for it.

If I were to ever own a 44 MAG again, it would be THAT gun. Passed on them when they went on super-clearance as they wound down production. I ALMOST grabbed one

Great pick-up...I'd shoot the snot outta it until I figured out something better. At that price, I'd have risked sleeping on the couch...
