I did shoot a Fox Squirrel sitting on a limb facing me at 125 yards with a T/C Super 14 .41 magnum with a 2x Leupold. Hit it under the chin as it was facing directly at me. The only animal I have ever actually gutted when I shot it

I consider BIG to be something over .45,……..with my over .45 guns. A few pigs, a pronghorn, an aoudad and anything else that will sit still long enough for me to get a good sight picture on. Everything over .45 that I have starts with a 5,……Linebaugh, JRH, AE, and Maximum. The one I enjoy shooting the most is my JRH built 500L…..my avatar gun 4” Bisquero.

...and one skunk with a 50AE Desert Eagle. You can do anything once but somethings shouldn't even happen at all. Was it raining skunk?

With my super blackhawk, about a dozen whitetails, one hog, small game. Made some great shots with it. Blued 45 colt mountain gun has taken a handful of small game, including a coon while buck naked(me, not the coon). Springfield 1911, one deer, small game and vermin. The ones im most proud of were with my black powder handguns. Pietta 1858 remington nailed a big doe at 34 yards, with a custom conical. This year i shot a smaller doe at 75-80 yards with my Old Army and another custom conical. I used one of the Old Army conicals in the 1911(220 gr at 1050) to shoot an average size doe at 66 paces. This winter i picked up an Uberti 1860 Army. What a fine revolver. With a little tuning to use conicals its going hunting this coming fall. Should be fun, there's just something about cap n ball revolers!

I actually got attacked by a big Grey Squirrel while in a deer stand 10 or so years ago ( either the doe in heat cover scent, or the rabbit skin on my orange bomber hat, the likely cause )... & hit with a 4" GP-100 in 357 magnum 125 grain hollow point at close to point blank range... I didn't find any parts big enough to eat
wish we could use percussion or black powder handguns for deer hunting here... bought a 50 caliber percussion black powder hand gun a few years ago... it's just a toy in Minnesota...

JT, that would be a lot of fun to hunt with percussion revolver. I need to put that on my list. For me, I would love the stainless one for that little bit of extra security on cleaning blackpowder. That's a good looking revolver too.

I like the stainless as it is easier to see the results of cleaning as I go. With modern solvents for BP or even Windex, cleaning is not that hard. I use a lot of paper towels and Q-Tips. With the USPFA I shot Monday something quite interesting occurred. After cleaning I set in on my desk to check a day later as I always do. The bolt would not engage. Figured the bolt spring had broken. Dis-assembled it and found the Wolfe spring to be fine BUT enough corrosion had occurred over night in the action the bolt would not engage. Cleaned everything with solvent and lubed with Ballistol. Works fine. I've never had the action of any BP sixgun do this before. I normally only dis=assemble after two or three shooting sessions unless the sixgun is going into storage after the first session.

Good to hear you say that JT. That was my thinking also on stainless; just easier to see what is needed for BP cleaning. I also use Windex and Ballistol. Twenty plus pounds of powder so far...wow. I can find powder sometimes but percussion caps have been challenging to find.
