well another quick update....after much wait...my barrel is back and hass been rebored to 44 magnum....so now i have a factory 4 5/8" co barrel that is 44 magnum....i still have it fitted and will start to address the mainspring issue...but that is for another day...see what u all think...God Bless,John to think it came from this when i bought it back last Easter Weekend Hey I had to re read the thread to see if you disclosed who you used to re bore the barrel. Could you tell us who did the work and the turn around time? Your Flattop looks great! Regards, Joe Well the barrel reboring was done by Al Siegrist in Michigan...took about five months for turn around time...well worth the wait...God Bless,John and costs was about 150 shipped there and back...barrel looks perfect and just like it should..incredible machine work...i can not wait to see how well it will shoot too...

Elmer also had an OM .41 Blackhawk with a brass SBH gripframe on it. Saw it at the EK Museum in Boise before it was all sold off. Had the same gun at one time but was a NM with a steel gripframe....was my favorite Blackhawk....had it for 25 years foolishly sold it.... Would like to find a 1976 4 5/8" Liberty and add a brass or steel SBH gripframe as that fits my hand better than any other. Good luck on your build... Bob Well i did not know that....very cool...appreciate the kind words Very cool idea about the 1976 liberty...God Bless,John

John, The No5 grip frame goes back all the way to 1928-29 when Elmer Keith married a Colt frontstrap the a Bisley backstrap. Elmer carried the No5 sixgun until the advent of the 44 Magnum. Elmer Keith called his No5 The Last Word. Here is one on a NM Flattop. This one is mine, built from scratch by Alan Harton I thought your Harton number 5 was stainless?? Sure looks like it's blue in that picture. Look closer boys. Those are 2 different sixguns. My Harton No5 is indeed stainless. The other shown is a NM Flattop.

Well sorry again for the delay I have been in the Hospital again since the 19th...not the most fun u can have for sure...looks like I will be back in one about 3hrs away here very soon too But thru all of this i was told that Midway USA was discounting some items and ironically they decided to lower prices of the Power Customs 2pc Colt Grip frame for the Old Model Blackhawk in brass discontinued at low price compared to the 240.99 normal price ...so I had to try one and I was able to get the last one I am in no condition to install it but at least I have one now This way I can get it fitted and installed sooner and have a set of custom one piece grips made with ruger factory medallions too I will post pics of the new bits once they arrive next week Thank u all for your patience Being sick stinks God Bless,John So thankful to still be alive
