Jeffer, I noticed your trigger guard looks different than mine, mine is opened up on the front giving more room. Magnum Research advertised this as one of the changes when going to the bisley grip frame. Is your bisley grip factory? Possibly I'm seeing it wrong or a variance when going to the new grip.

Is this style of grip considered "Bisley-like" rather than pure Bisley? The reason I ask is that all the Bisley grip frames I've seen, like the one in the header at the top of the page, have one continuous arc from the back of the grip to the cylinder frame. How hard is it to obtain aftermarket grips for the BFR Bisley?

Nothing aftermarket available as they have not been out long. The Micarta is quite good though.

You guys are killing me. The 500 linebaugh model can't come soon enough. Think MR will take an order now? I don't need a single-digit serial number, but I wouldn't mind having one... All the pictures have settled the quesiton in my mind for what grip panels will be in my order! I think the white is rather fetching.

For those who have shot both, which do you prefer: new Bisley BFR or JRH modified original BFR?

I ama freedom arms nut and love mine and nothing has changed. However, i can say my bfr bisley handles heavy recoil better than any revolver available imho. My 7.5β 460 with 325βs at 2000 fps has less felt recoil and pain if u will than my 10β fa 454 with 250βs at 1800 fps! Hammer reach is great and is a non issue. I got to shoot some very heavy loads out of whits 500L and 500jrh and not a bit of hand pain. Perfect imho though it felt a little different initially.

I chose the black Micarta grips for my .444 Marlin BFR and I like them a lot.

Is anyone mounting a Trijicon reflex sight on your BFR? I cannot seem to find the amount that I'm looking for.

KRal, I have shot both grip frames and I personally like the new Bisley-type grip. I have always preferred black grips until recently. Those ivory grips on stainless guns are starting to grow on me -- and my latest BFR wears them. I got a PC gun in .44 Mag. with 7.5" barrel. This revolver is very accurate and a real pleasure to shoot.

Mark, willing to snap a picture? a short frame with bisley-style grip and white panels with 7.5" barrel is just what I had in mind.
How does the longer barrel feel in hand? Just barely muzzle heavy enough to make the 44mag recoil like a .22?

I chose the black Micarta grips for my .444 Marlin BFR and I like them a lot. Back about 15 yeas ago, Baba Looey on this forum bet me if I could fire five consecutive shots from a .444 Marlin BFR, he'd buy me one. I'm still waiting for him to make good on that π

I chose the black Micarta grips for my .444 Marlin BFR and I like them a lot. My bride would bust out laughing if I brought that one home. She calls all of the nice guns I have "it's just a gun". Of course it makes it easier to slide another in as long as I don't go to wild on the grips or to different. I tell her I have different grips for them and I think it works. I've seen other photos of those monsters, but for some reason when you add a scope it puts how big they are in perspective. Talk about a long ERH!
