Seems to have a more subdued finish than my 6.5" 480. No shots fired yet, I have a MIHEC mould that I got from the recent group buy which I will be putting into use soon. In the meantime I have some 345 grain Keith SWCs to try out as well as a few 325 grain Hornady factory loads.
I'll take it afield come hunting season for deer and black bear.

I thought this version shot and handled very well. Recoil was mild with normal loads with the short barrel and it was easy to hit with. You'll love it!

I would like to get this and put a Hunter grip frame on it.
Congrats. I love my 6.5" Bisley.

This 480 Ruger had a Bisley grip frame ... I fit a Super Blackhawk Hunter grip frame to it and replaced the hammer and trigger with Power Custom upgrade parts... Still need to make new grips.... Just threw a set of old SBH grips on it temporarily. Also changed the ejector rod.

Mine arrived to me with terrible rust pitting on the grip frame (to the left of where the hammer meets to top of the grip frame) and really bad 1/2"x2" scuffs in the stainless finish on the barrel. Also the loading gate seems like it's hanging up when opening. This one's going back to Ruger for refinishing.

In what Business model does it make sense to manufacture and sell an obviously defective product that will have to be returned and repaired? that looks more like a poor casting to my eye than rust.
That's awful! I Lucked out with both 6.5" & 4 5/8" models that I bought.
When a big order of guns arrives at Lipseys do they inspect each one or just leave them on a pallet until they are shipped back out to the dealers/customer?
I bet you will like it Very well once you get it back!

I was looking at one at my LGS and noticed that the cylinder was dragging on the barrel when cocked. The barrel cylinder gap was uneven; touching at the top and a gap at the bottom.

My Bisley arrived with a broken rear sight blade. My gun store contacted Ruger and they said they would send a replacement in 7-10 days. After 14 days I was becoming anxious so contacted my store to see what the delay was. They said the part had just been "brought in" and they would explain when I got there. Turned out that the cops had busted the mail carrier lady and they found my order, as well as several others, in her private vehicle and the cops made the delivery. My rear sight blade was duly installed and I went out and put a few rounds through her. So... apparently Lipsey's never checked the gun for integrity or they broke the blade themselves and let it go. The broken piece was in the plastic bag with the pistol.

This is the next gun I want, the only gun that I have any kind of need for. Kinda hurts to hear of the issues. Do think it's on Ruger to put a good gun in the box, not Lipseys to break open every box to check. Sad to think they might have to or end up sharing blame, misplaced or not. When my 6.5" showed up, we found a 454 in the box. The next box to show had the poor grip fit issue, but usable and I did not risk a send back. Ruger is going after smaller and smaller niche guns, guns that we want, for this I am happy.

When my 6.5" arrived, it was terrible. Screw driver scratch marks all over it, very poor grip fit, action felt and sounded like it was full of sand. With the hammer down, you could pull on the trigger and it would stick in the rearward position. All very fixable with a good tune up I realize, but thats not what I bought, my dealer gave me a full refund when I showed him. I thought about having one built with a shorter barrel, low and behold they beat me to it. I have had one on order with my local dealer since the shot show, they called the other day and said it was on the way. Looking forward to getting this .480 , hope its a clean piece, I have plenty of projects without buying brand new ones.

About two weeks ago while at a LGS, had the person behind the counter look for one. NADA, course I have no idea what he was typing, where he was looking, etc.. He didn't know of the gun, at all, in any length. When I got my 6.5" had to argue with the guy at different store to the point of getting him to call Lipseys, yes there IS such a thing. He didn't believe and didn't want to waste his time. Seems his parents wasted their time.
