I really wish they would have gone with the 1/2 Lug... I guess I am the only one who likes the 1/2 guns.... MY UNDERSTANDING FROM LIPSEY'S IS IT IS COMING AND SOON

Would like to see a 6-6.5" stainless without the full lug. Don't need another 44 Special, but I'd buy one.

MY UNDERSTANDING FROM LIPSEY'S IS IT IS COMING AND SOON That would make my whole year! 5" + 1/2 lug + .44 Spl = superlative sixgun, or in this case a fivegun! I am glad I waited on this one. It was very hard to hold off on the 3" version and I ended up with a Smith 69 instead. Thanks so much for this info. Matt

I said I'd buy a blued 5" the day it was released IF they made one. I did that. If the half lug gun is 5", i may buy it too and sell the full lug one.

Ok sorry guys... All this talk about a 1/2 lug 5" 44 GP, just made me pull out one of my favorite .357's to envision what the new Ruger may look like...Let the lust fest begin...

I will confess to being surprised by the 5" gun. I figured the lug would make it front heavy like the 357 Mag GPs I've handled, but it didn't.
The gun really pointed and felt good in hand. Still think the half lug would be great on a longer barrel gun.

I love the little 3" GP-44 BUT, I surely would also like to get the 5" that's out now. Hope they stick around for awhile It'll make for a nice little deer hunting gun, with a micro red dot sight, IMHO BigBore44

I may have typed it on another thread or didn't hit send or something. Losing my mind. Lol The big ol bore of the 44 makes the full lug gun manageable. It aint bad at all. Not near as heavy as the 357 with full lug.

I'll pick mine up tomorrow and have more details soon.
Seriously considering simple rubber Hogue finger groove grips. I realize they're not pretty, but sure do work good.

Hard not to buy the one sitting on the shelf here... Just about to order more front sights for other things from Kensight too. What is one more?

Finally made it to pick up my gun. I'm very impressed and pleased with the gun. Fit and finish are excellent.
Changed the grips to some I ordered off eBay. Some kind of beautiful hardwood, but unsure what.
Stay tuned for a range report to follow.

Well, I continue to be impressed with this gun. The range report was as impressive as the fit and finish. Groups were consistently in the 1-1.5" range at 25 yards. John Taffin posted excellent results with his as well. Here's the link: www.reedercustomguns.net/forum/index.php?id=38265

I picked up a 5" blued to go with my 3" stainless last Saturday. After dry firing I noticed the bluing was coming off on the front of the cylinder. After further inspection I noticed the cylinder was contacting the frame window at the front. It appeared that the frame window was not machined correctly. I noticed that there was a large grind mark at the 6 o'clock position of the barrel, causing the forcing cone to be extremely thin. The grip screw was found to be jacked up too, the head appears to be double stuck, buggering the head. The gun will be going back to Ruger. I am sure they will do it right the second time.
