The 3" guns look great, just not my cup of tea. The 5" guns much better suited for hunting.

I will anxiously await your report. If you have positive experience then a fairly new Smith Model 69 will become trade fodder as this GP 5" .44 special is what I was tryin to get out of the 69. I almost bit on the 3" version but I wanted a bit more barrel. I hope they do a better job at fitting the front sight on these than the 3" models.

Hi... Now that is good news! Any idea when these 5" models might be available in the marketplace? Might need to have one of them.

Paul If you decide to part ways with that 69, please let me know. Can't guarantee I'll be ready but would be interested BigBore44

I'm hoping Ruger starts stocking a correct, well-fitted front sight so I can change mine out.

I'm anxious to hear your report, too. It's hard to tell from that picture, but it looks like there's a little daylight between the front sight and the barrel... In these parts I prefer a stainless gun for hunting, but blue sure is pretty.

I don't mind a bit of daylight between the sight body and top of the barrel. It's the daylight in the dovetail itself that irks me.

Was really hoping they'd move the warning label to the bottom of the barrel on the .44Spl. They didn't with the 3", now I get to hope they did on the 5"
