Would it be prudent to use 500 Linebaugh data for the 500 JRH? I know the max pressuer for the JRH is 45K and the Linebaugh is 50K. But if you back off the charge say 15% souldn't that be safe? I see more data out there with more powders for the Linebaugh that I have not seen on any JRH data.
Thanks, Mike

Use .500 WE load data, available through Freedom Arms. Huntington published the same data for his JRH. Capacity is essentially the same for both.

When I bought "Gary's gun" as I call it I asked Jack for load data. Here is a handwritten letter from Jack himself. Enjoy, good shooting. a on it. It

I know a couple of people who have done really extensive load development for the .500 JRH to include many different weight/types of bullets and powders. I will gather the load data for you, Mike.

That's mighty nice of you Whitworth. I would also like to see that if possible. Just started loading for mine and all I really have is what Jack provided. Mark

And DO NOT use .500 Linebaugh data! You're better off with .475 Linebaugh if you have can't find what you're looking for in the .500 WE data.

10-4. Thanks everyone.....that data is nice, and the stuff from you Whit will be a big help. Guess I am not the only one who wants this stuff.

The data from Jack is pretty much the benchmark. I wish he had some HS-6 data, but several people here have developed some loads with HS-6 so no problem there.
I'd also like to see some AA#9 data, as I have 8 pounds of it.
To date, I've used H110 and HP38/W231. 10 grains under a 440 as Jack notes is a good load and does about 900-950 fps. Good accuracy in my BFR. Very easy to shoot, feels about like a good 45 Colt load in a normal size gun.
I ended up staying on the low end of the 500WE data with H110. 27 grains is the starting load with a 440 grain cast, but I found good accuracy there. I went up to 29.5, but that's pretty rough in the recoil department, unless you are a seasoned heavy recoil shooter. I didn't see any more practical accuracy at 29.5 than I did at 27-28 grains.
It's interesting to note that in his handwritten notes, Jack lists 27 grains of H110 with the 440 gr. bullet.
I've also used the 350 XTP with 31 grains of H110, with good results.

Does Jack's brass have pistol or rifle primer pockets?

I know the max pressuer for the JRH is 45K and the Linebaugh is 50K. John Linebaugh has always recommended low 30,000 psi loads as max in the 500 Linebaugh. Due to a miscommunication Hodgdon published Johns proof loads when they first published data for the round. Those loads were 45,000 PSI or so.

Does Jack's brass have pistol or rifle primer pockets? Pistol as far as I can tell. I use WLP.
