Can you tell us more about the work done to these?
These were a pair of abused New Services that Andy Horvath applied his Fitz special package to. Instead of removing the trigger guard front I asked him to thin them on the trigger finger side, one for each hand.
Since they were rough externally he recommended a brushed blue as a high polish would remove too much metal.

Picked up this beauty today. I don't have any other nickel guns so it's gonna take some practice taking good pics. It's a 19-3 2.5" with a red ramp front sight and target hammer/target trigger. Dates to 1977. Also I found some original grips for my 65-5 ladysmith that I purchased last month

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago (S&W M66-8 2 3/4") as an understudy to my 2 3/4" M69. Replaced the front sight (shot 5" hi at 25 yds with 158gr/15.0 2400) and added Pachmayr Diamond Pros (which don't work for me on the M69, but real comfortable on the 66). Looks like it wants to shoot - load development still work in progress. M66 M69 with modified 500 Hogue X Frame grips (rounded butt and removed finger grooves).

M66 ***** paul105.... please explain difference in recoil between M-66 and M-69 with same Pachmayr Diamond Pro grip. Is impact to base of thumb severe with the .44 Mag? Or, does the M-69 squirm on recoil? David Bradshaw

David,
The way I hold the gun, more severe impact to the base of thumb/web with .44 Mag. In addition, the trigger guard hammers my middle finger knuckle with the .44.

Picture of back of grips side by side -- notice how thin the Pach Diamond Pro is at the top compared to the Houge 500 X Frame. You can also see a slight smudge mark on the Hogue where the base of my thumb impacts under recoil. Here's a picture of a set of "worn out" Hogues showing the base of the thumb impact area. Side view of grips showing the shallower depth of the filler behind the trigger guard on the Pachmayr's (which causes the middle knuckle thumping). Paul

Paul, can ya post up a pic showing a new Hogue 500 grip next to one you've customized ? Curious as to just how much material you've removed and where. If a good pic up in the M69's thread nevermind. I'll look.
