The top one was taken while wading salmon filled streams in S.E. Alaska. The bottom one was taken on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Arizona.

Snyd-
We shoot only Nosler Accubonds (Federal Premium loaded) in both, 180's in the .300WM and 250's in the .338WM... that's the only bullet that's ever come out of the tubes on either of those two guns... at least since I've owned them... and yes, we both pretty much hit where aiming' at... and I thought I was a dead eye with a firearm or a bow... until my boy started hunting with me... age can be humbling... what I wouldn't give to have my young eyes back again!
Ken- those are awesome bears... did you use the TX heart shot? Whit says that the best way to kill an Alaskan grizz is to let him take out chasing one of your buddies away from you and then shoot him up the arse? Could that be true? PS- what are your thoughts on the Accubonds vs. the Partitions Ken?

A man who uses a Texas heart shot on a bear should be hung.
I'm a creature of habit, so I still have Partitions loaded for several rifle calibers. The Accubond hadn't been introduced when I quit hunting with rifles, so I have no first hand experience.

...So would anyone feel "under gunned" carrying a 475 Linebaguh as a side-arm, and a .338 Win mag as a primary hunting weapon, in Alaskan interior grizz country? .... I personally would not feel undergunned hunting anything, anywhere with that combo.

i've found over the years that the partition will hold up a little better than the accubond in the 300 Weatherby at all ranges that I've used them. I've seen a lot of people whine about accuracy in the partitions and they always shot well in my guns but the accubond was just a little bit tighter in the group department.
either are great bullets though!

Snyd- Whit says that the best way to kill an Alaskan grizz is to let him take out chasing one of your buddies away from you and then shoot him up the arse? Could that be true? Hahaha!! Yeah, that's what I said! You failed to mention that you first shoot your buddy in the knee cap so that he can't run very fast, again diverting the bears attention, allowing for the perfect Texas heart shot -- of course if this is the tactic you will use, you best not utilize expanding bullets as you will need enough penetration so that your bullet can travel from the exit to the heart...... ;D ;D

A man who uses a Texas heart shot on a bear should be hung. Why would you hang a man for shooting a bear in the butt? ;D ;D I hope you are not being serious and that you can see the humor in dlhredfoxx's assertion about me suggesting a Texas heart shot while the bear is chasing your hunting partner.

I am pretty hung as a matter of fact... but I've never shot bear in the butt. Now, our diminutive little TX whitetail are another matter... have made several DRT TX heart shots on them... and none of them went anywhere, except straight into the dirt. :0 Whit- you know I was just kidding about the bear in the butt thing... was just in one of those "punchy" sort of moods I guess... no offense meant by any stretch... was just funnin' around...

I see bears as grand animals deserving of our full respect. Enough said, I reckon. A couple more old photos from Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula:

Wow, big bear Ken! Nice. What did you take him with? Would love to hear the story behind that brute.
