Another thing that caught my attention today. There are no markings on the sides of the frame whatsoever. Seems like I've seen in photos of other's 500 JRH guns, the caliber is marked on one side of the frame. The only indication of caliber on this gun is stamped on the barrel. Axehandle speculated that these were surplus 50 AE guns that MRI figured they could move faster if they fit a 500 JRH cylinder to and stamped the barrel "500 JRH". Sounds about right.

I think the ones that were marked 500 JRH were the custom shop ones.

Production guns from BFR are marked/stamped on the barrel, if you order them from there custom shop they engrave the frame with cal. etc.

Nice work. Have you considered Jack Huntington's grip extension? I recently had it done to my 475 BFR and it made a world of difference. BTW, I plan on ordering a 500 JRH BFR later this month. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Yeah, Jack's grip extension is something I will probably have done at some point. I am going to skip having Micarta grips fitted to the gun when it goes back to MRI for that reason. Plus, I don't see how you can hang on to this thing with slick grips on the stock frame, without some tacky gloves of some sort. The rubber grips are not the prettiest, but they seem to work well with a thin glove. I'm eager to get some 400+ grain cast bullets in and start doing some load development. I'll need to modify my bench rest setup though to protect my elbows. I was shooting my FA 454 off the bench yesterday as well, and it was just driving the bones of my elbows into the gaps between the wood planks that make up the top surface of the benches at this range. Elbows are killing me today. That's why I didn't shoot this one off the bench at all yesterday. Oh, and here's a slowed down clip of the first shot in the video I posted. Awesome.
