All these recent threads and postings about half bores did me in. Saw a good deal on a new 5.5" BFR in 500 JRH and placed my order. Good Lord what have I done...
I'm starting from scratch on this one. Need dies, brass, bullets. Have H-110 and AA9 and a little 4227 powder, any others worth trying?
I'll be calling Jack for new Starline brass tomorrow probably. Still trying to decide on the bullets.
I'm excited!

I don't see 500 JRH ammo on Buffalo Bore or Grizzly's websites. Is this not being offered commercially anymore?

Good thing he has local "facilitators." We'll make sure he has everything he needs to get this beast up and running quick!

Hah, "facilitators". That's the truth.
And I know of what you speak about needing more H110. The powder level in my Dillon measure sure did drop quick when I was throwing 30 grain charges in Casull cases with every pull of the handle...

I don't see 500 JRH ammo on Buffalo Bore or Grizzly's websites. Is this not being offered commercially anymore? Grizzly has five or six different loads ranging from 350 grain jacketed soft-points up to 440 grain cast (and Punch bullets). Everey load I have tested printed at a little over an inch to just under an inch at 50 yards. Impressive stuff. They're not done building the new website, unfortunately. Buffalo Bore made the ammo for Jack Huntington and you can get two different loads from him -- a 440 at 950 fps, and a rather brutal 425 at 1,400 or so (these loads actually went 1,450 out of mine).

FWIW if you haven't handled a BFR you are in for a treat.. I really like some of the semi customs that have been posted by members recently with some subtle custom touches.. That grip frame extension, the 2 Dogs front sight, custom grips, and I understand the the Bowen Ruger rear sights are a drop in too! Takes a fine little single action and steps it up another notch!

Congrats! Scratched the same itch a few weeks back. Nice revolvers, the bfrs. Titegroup is the powder I will try this weekend with 350 xtps.

Never handled one, even though I've seen 'em time to time in the stores. I'm already thinking about the Huntington grip frame extension, some white micarta grips, and a proper front sight. The Bowen rear sight will probably be mandatory as well. First things first though. Gun, dies, brass and bullets!

Just did some quick cast bullet shopping. WOW. 440 grainers are expensive! I'm gonna need to get a lead pot and a mold
