When looking at the early 444’s, it seemed an easy way to convert it to a Trapper since they used the dual barrel band supports. The front one being split on top made use of a barrel band front sight an easy decision when relocating the front sight back. The gun is a mix of traditional and nontraditional, with its Aimpoint Comp M4, but the ability to fire easily while wearing NVD and use the daylight invisible power settings makes it a great night killer on pigs. Which sadly someone has to do and it may as well be me.

I've always wanted a 444P to go along with my rifle. Very handy guns. That trapper would be sweet too

Rey and I were able to double up on a small sounder. He took the first shot and I immediately followed with mine on another pig. His dropped from a spine shot, and mine ran a short 10-15 yards. He will post a pic of the quite exemplary trail from the running pig, you would think I had dragged this guy out of the brush, but it was him leaking from a missing bottom of his heart. I really like this PCHP bullet from Randominator, massive damage on the initial hit and a nice exit hole about nickel to quarter size. I don’t know if it’s blowing the nose off like a Partition and the base continues or what as I still am unable to stop one and recover it. The pig on the previous comments also exhibited tremendous damage from the initial impact, with a clean 3/4” exit hole.

Admittedly I did hit him a bit lower than I wanted so there was a large hole in his lower chest that allowed unimpeded flow of blood to the ground and surrounding vegetation. Which was a good thing because he ran j to that small bush that is visible at the end of the trail, made a sharp 90* turn to the right when he did the blood trail just ended. Nothing for 3-6 feet, I was thinking no way he got much farther, when some brilliant red flowers were visible and I walked over and it was more splatter and bubbly red stuff. He made it an additional 8-10 feet with more of the same trail left behind. The only time I’ve had an easier trail to follow was on a mule deer buck I’d taken in 12-18 inches of snow, of course he just danced around in a 10 yard circle and flopped over but the snow made following his progress like reading a book.
