MY PRIMARY HUNTING RIFLES ON THESE RIFLE ONLY HUNTING LEASES (FIRST AT LC AND NOW PDM) HAVE BEEN A MARLIN 336 35 REMINGTON AND A WINCHESTER MODEL 94AE SRC IN 45 COLT BUT THEY ARE BOTH OFF GETTING SOME TRIGGER WORK SO WHAT NOW? HUNTING RIFLES ARE SCARCE IN MY HOSEHOLD. I HAVE A ROSSI 20" 454 BUT IT ONLY HAS A RED DOT, A SAVAGE 99 IN 22 SAVAGE HIGH POWER WITH AN OLD TIME STITH OPTIC SET UP AND A LATER, FACTORY D&T'ed, 99 IN 300 SAVAGE WITH A DECENT SCOPE. OF THE 3 ONLY THE LATTER HAS NOT BEEN BLOODED BY ME SO MAYBE I WILL USE IT? ? ?

I would always ask the girl who hadn’t gotten to dance yet.

Either of the Savages. Although I’d take the Rossi just in case you need to follow up Nico on a Nilgai

I noticed to mentioned Top Brass for the 45 Colt. I like that brass and wish I could find more. It’s my favorite. Wonder who actually made it? Anyone know? Thanks Jeff

WENT TO MY RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE THIS MORNING, TEMPS IN THE 80's, NOT MUCH WIND. AT 104 YARDS THE ROSSI 454, USING SOME VINTAGE COR BON 300gr 454 AMMO, WHICH HAS CHRONO'ed 2,000fps out'a THE ROSSI, WAS ON. THE MODEL 99 300 SAVAGE, USING SOME WINCHESTER 150gr POWER POINT AMMO WAS DARN NEAR ON AND I JUST TWEAKED IT A TAD. ONLY FIRED 2 3 SHOT GROUPS @ 104 YARDS WITH THE SAVAGE, THE FIRST WAS JUST UNDER 2 INCHES, THE 2nd JUST OVER 1 INCH, OUGHT TO WORK.

WENT TO PDM LAST SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH MY SON (TREY) AND GRANDAUGHTER (JULIE ANNE). RAINS HAD GREENED UP THE RANCH AND PUT SOME WATER IN THE PONDS. NO ACTION BUT DID SEE A HUGE BULL ELAND IN A LARGE HERD OF ELAND.
PRETTY SURE PDM HAS GOTTEN MORE RAIN IN THE PAST WEEK. TRAPR AND I ARE HEADING THERE SHORTLY TO SPEND A FEW DAYS SCOUTING, HUNTING FOR HOGS AND COYOTES AND MAYBE A NILGAI COW. TRAPR IS BRINGING BACK A COUPLE OF MY LEVER ACTIONS THAT HE WORKED OVER THE TRIGGER PULLS ON, AND I GOT A MODEL 97 45 COLT, AND A NEW TO ME 1950's 38/44 OUTDOORSMAN THAT I AM TAKING ALONG, ALL 4 OF WHICH I AM HOPING TO CHECK OUT ON THE RANGE AT PDM.

GOT TO PDM DURING THE NOON HOUR YESTERDAY, TRAPR AND I WERE THE ONLY HUNTERS ON THE RANCH. GOT UNLOADED AND SETTLED IN IN CABIN No. 1, KILLED TIME UNTIL 3:30 THEN WENT AND RE-SIGHTED IN MY MODEL 94 SRC TRAPPER IN 45 COLT AND STARTED DRIVING AROUND. SAW A COUPLE OF REALLY NICE KUDU BULLS, ONE HAD TO BE AT LEAST MID-50's (WILL TRY TO POST A PICTURE). SAW SEVERAL HOGS BUT WERE NEVER ABLE TO GET A SHOT OFF ON 'em. CALLED IT A DAY EARLIER THAN LAST LIGHT AND WENT TO A PORCH/COVERED AREA BETWEEN CABIN 1 & 2 FOR REFRESHMENTS, BS AND, FOR ME, A CIGAR. SITTING WAY OUT IN THE BOONIES IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO BE PREPARED SO OUR BELT GUNS BECAME OUR PORCH GUNS: linkPICTURED ABOVE ARE TRAPR's SELF CUSTOMIZED OLD VAQUERO IN 45 COLT, MY BOWEN ANACONDA REDHAWK IN 45 COLT, TRAPR's NEAT LIL' BLADE BY KIM RALSTON AND A CRKT KEN ONION DESIGNED LIMITED EDITION SKINNER (GIFTED TO ME BY DON KIRN, FORMER PRESIDENT OF SCI). THE DOMINO's WERE JUST THERE. TRAPR's BISLEY IS WEARING BIG HORN GRIPS BY ZANE, THE REDHAWK IS WEARING SOME NICE SAMBAR STAG GRIPS. HAVING COFFEE RIGHT NOW, WILL HEAD OUT AGAIN IN ABOUT30 MINUTES.

Pretty cool the real life nature of this photograph. You can almost feel like you’re sitting there with two gunnies admiring their grown man handguns and knives. Any accounting for the blood drops on the table?

linkNOT THE CLEAREST OF PICTURES BUT HERE IS A PHOTO OF THE BIG KUDU WE SAW YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. SLOW MORNING THIS A.M. SO WE CAME IN EARLY AND HEADED TO THE RANGE FOR SOME AMMO TESTING BY ME AND TRAPR. MAN IS THAT XERO-C1 SOMETHING ELSE. I TRIED SOME LOADS IN MY 7.5" MODEL 97 45 COLT, THE 260 FUSION, WHCH BARELY FIT, LOCKED UP THE CYLINDER WITH BULLET JUMP ON THE 3rd SHOT SO SCRATCHING IT OFF OF MY LIST. TRIED THREE ROUNDS WITH A 270gr GROOVELESS, GC'ed, PC'ed, FP HP I GOT FROM RANDOMINATOR, WITH A LOAD OF No. 9 POWDER (A RECIPE THAT I ALSO GOT FROM RANDY), AND GOT AN AVERAGE OF 1,549fps, yowza! WITH NO PRESSURE SIGNS. GOING TO WORK MORE WITH THIS LOAD.
