Plenty has hanged since Vietnam. Anyway, thats the way its done here in the UNITED STATES for a reason. Go to any kind of sanctioned shooting event (and 99.9% nonsanctioned) and you will be reprimanded at the least and probably run off if you cant comply with that simple rule. The same applies to any LEO training ive ever been a part of. You came here to enjoy our freedoms and benefits and by the sounds of your plethora of businesses, this country has treated you quite well. Whats the problem with adhering to one of our simple rules then?

Whats the problem with adhering to one of our simple rules then? "I'm just a soul who's intentions are good..." but looks like I'm misunderstood (again). I have no "problem" with any of it. I don't go to any shooting matches, I don't compete with anyone, I don't go to public shooting ranges (I have my own). I have ONE shooting friend in the area I live in, and he comes to my range to shoot (USMC guy who was trained like me). I have quite a few friends in other states and countries who visit maybe once a year. Actually,...I'm expecting a visiting party of four in two weeks from Germany, and they absolutely LOVE to ride my horses, and shoot my guns....again, they had the same training as I did. Bare in mind,....I am OLD. My friends are old, and the training we had was in the 70s (USMC guy in the 60s). And again,...I have no "problem" with it. I just made a casual remark that we (my friends and I) "chuckle" when we see it. That's all I am prepared to say about this at this time. This country is good to me. No question. I don't know how good it would've been if I haven't come here with a substantial amount of money to invest. I came here to live my childhood dream. To get married in Tombstone, AZ, to own a ranch the size of some smaller countries in Europe (hint: it's bigger than San Marino or Vatican) and carry guns wherever/whenever I want without asking for "permission" from anyone.

I guess i do misunderstand you. I cant figure out if you are here to talk guns or trumpets. I came into the U.S. with ZERO dollars and all i knew how to do when i got here was suck a teet. You have definitely one upped me.

I was trained to keep my finger off the trigger, usually outside of the trigger guard. It's not slow.
I couldn't remember how many hundreds of buildings I have been in on clearing, sometimes 10-15 in just one day. In a combat zone with at least a couple hot exchanges a day. All with finger out of the guard before actually engaging and back out as soon as clear. It's how we trained so it's natural that way.
Europe is a little different. I did an entry with some SAS before. The way they would clear a questionable closet was to fire it up, then check it for any bodies. GSG9, same thing, except they like concussion grenades over flash-bangs. If we did it, it'll be a Court Martial.

GSG9, same thing, except they like concussion grenades over flash-bangs. If we did it, it'll be a Court Martial. I was with GSG9, and I know exactly what you are saying. I didn't try to offend/antagonize anyone here. In my broken English I was trying to explain why the tight trigger guard annoys/distracts me. I also tried to explain that I was trained differently (as you all that served well know, stuff they drill into you at the young age is hard to shake off). Then I mentioned (in the similar conversation) this to my friend Marine, and he said they weren't trained like that either. So, I jokingly started to refer to this a "New American Way" mostly in my conversations with my wife. She asked me once why I insert my finger in the trigger guard right away (no, I am not being dirty here!). "Isn't that dangerous?" she asked, and "they don't do it like that in the movies". Well,...it depends what movies you watch. Bigbore......a lot of Coalition forces HAD TO adjust their ROEs based on the "American Way" (we joked about it that it's "Amway" the infamous MLM company). When I was in action we had VERY different ROEs, before we had to work with the Americans. Look folks,.....this thread went WAY off the track. I am NOT saying/implying/insinuating or whatever else that European way is better, or that the American way is worse. I am simply saying that I am old, set in my ways, well trained, and I don't want to adjust/change, or anything else, and because of the way I live....I don't have to.

Hunter: I was not out to "one up you". Aciera asked why 1860 TG didn't work, and I explained the technical aspect of it, but veered off into why it is important TO ME to have roomy TG (because of the vastly different training I was subjected to and practiced it for many years).

So, now that we're all friends again.....does anyone here have a friend or a family member that works in metal plating? If you do,...please drop me a message.
