Have you ever had one of those days, not the bad ones, we all have those, but more of an unexpected, exciting day? Well, today I did, a month or so ago, fellow enabler from this forum started getting the classic S&W revolvers, and I felt like I needed one too, so I put a M57 on layaway, I'm a sucker for the 41 magnum, price $1'129, a big purchase for me so I made a measly payment, and put it on layaway, this morning at work, getting the days work order, I'm an HVAC installing tech, my boss approached me , and was telling me about celebrating my 25 years with the company at our Christmas party this coming Friday, he wanted to know if I'd rather forego the standard shiny watch gift they normally award for 25 years of service, and wanted to buy the revolver for me, I was absolutely stunned, umm yes, revolver please, so he said go to the store after work and do the paperwork, unbelievable. After work I go to the store, and tell them why I'm there, then I kinda turned to my left, and noticed a guy hurting for the door, with 2 employees following, they tell him to stop , and he bolts out, alarm goes off, and so did I, I ran out after him, with the employees also in pursuit, chased him almost a 1/4 mile until he finally petered out, and restrained him , with the employees, until law enforcement showed up, he stole ammunition, I went back to the store, did my paperwork, and waited for the officers, to give my testimony, and information , they thanked me, and told me to have a good evening. I don't know why I did this, it just happened, thinking about it after, maybe this guy who wasn't supposed to have ammunition, is for a reason, maybe it's a good thing he didn't get it, maybe... Well, now I have the 3 day waiting period, this is also my first S&W revolver, so anything I should know about them , please inform me

So fellows, Trent had a big day.
He texted this morning with the news about his boss paying for his S&W 57 Classic.
Then this evening about chasing down an ammo thief.
I've heard of some guns with a story, but this one is over the top.
It'll be a symbiotic relationship forever. Shoot the gun, remember the day...

Great story!
A S&W .41 Mag is my last one I'm wanting to complete my S&W DA bunch.

You should maybe know that having a 657 has led to my lusting after a 58, and it only gets worse.

Heck of a memory to start off a relationship! Excellent choice by the way. Hello, my name is Trey and I am a 41 mag addict.

Congrats on a thrilling day! My "Bicentennial Big Bore" is a Model 57, 8⅜" bbl. along with a favorite stockman, also made in 1976. It's well worn and a little loose, but still amazingly accurate. I love old Smiths, but have heard good things about the Classics, too.
