You should maybe know that having a 657 has led to my lusting after a 58, and it only gets worse. I went the other way around. I always wanted a no lock 657, but availability of the gun and finances at the same time never aligned. Then a nice 57 dropped in my lap and I got it. A few months later a 657 appeared at a LGS and it came home. I really do not need or want two revolvers so similar and I've been faced with a decision, keep or lose the 57... All my problems should be so big :-)

Not my first 41, but first double action 41, I have 4 Ruger blackhawk 41, a 4.5, the 6.5, the 5.5 stainless bisley, and the Super Blackhawk Hunter in 41, should be very interesting in a double action

I found out today, that the ammo thief had a few warrants in the next county north of here, probably theft, hopefully he's off the streets now

I think most offenders are in fact repeat offenders...

Picked up the revolver yesterday, and now have 50 rounds through it, shoots great, and the best factory double action pull I've felt, I don't own a lot of double actions, this is my fourth, my others are Rugers, I still prefer single actions, and usually shoot my double actions that way, I will be replacing the grips with combat style, they just work better for me, and a new cylinder latch release is on the way, but that's where I'm stopping , other than that, it's almost perfect, except for the scratch I found on the side plate, that I didn't notice before, it's only visible from one angle, but it's there, debating whether to have Smith and Wesson take care of it, or just polish it out myself, and have my local guy reblue the side plate , the turnaround time would be much quicker , maybe I should just let it go, and call it life.

pleadthe2nd.... vintage S&W bluing includes frame/barrel, side-late, yoke. Would not expect sideplate blued separately to match rest of revolver when it comes back. David Bradshaw

I sent an email to Smith and Wesson, I'll wait for a response.

Since you plan on shooting it (hopefully a lot) I would not worry about a small scratch. Congrats on the new weapon!

this is also my first S&W revolver, so anything I should know about them , Yeah , start saving your money for the next one. Here's a picture to help you get thru the 3-day purgatory. I love the idea of those Magna grips on that 57.

Not a S&W guy here. Only have two, a '69/'70 vintage m32 nickel I carry to work and a 642 that the Missus likes.
That said, I have been thinking hard about the 57 classic for a deer gun lately. They are nice looking.

Tim will be posting a pictures for me of my 25 year appreciation, from my employer, called Smith and Wesson, and they will be taking care of the scratch, at zero cost, the pictures will show the scratch, and how it couldn't be seen from other angles, which is why I missed it at the gun shop.
