I'm hoping this works itself out. I'm confident it will...
I've posted many times that I carefully inspect all guns before I buy. There are few manufacturers I trust these days.
But, here's the issue we face. Internal problems (and some external) are obviously the manufacturer's doing. On this one, I'm not so sure.
I've seen lots of guns handled rough at gun shows and some shops. Have also seen guns taken home, used, cleaned up, and brought back to be sold as new.
Will be interesting to follow this one...

***** Trent.... good deal. Wouldn’t fire one round of magnum before changing that wood for a grip which doesn’t chop the base of the thumb on recoil. Injury is easier to acquire than heal from. David Bradshaw

Bradshaw, I 100% agree, these grips have got to go, even the square bottom bites my lower palm, I have seen a set from Badger grips in Italian olive wood I'm hoping to order soon, the bottom is longer, and slightly rounded

I discovered 41 magnum about a year ago when I traded a gun I never used for a nice new model 57. As I handload for other calibers it was an easy choice. I quickly discovered how accurate and enjoyable that model 57 dash whatever the new ones are, are and decided I needed a Ruger Blackhawk in 41 magnum to go along. Last month I found one and it is also just as insanely enjoyable to shoot.
Fast forward to two weeks ago while Christmas shopping I found a model 57-1 at a seemingly good price at a local store, used, but the blueing is in 98% or better condition as if this thing has seen no trigger time at all. Tempting, very tempting. The serial number on this puts it at about a 1982 born on date.
Handloading for the 41 magnum is pretty much a given but so gratifying in this caliber.
