I am trying to decide on type the type of grips I want to put on my Bisley Blackhawk and was hoping people would post their custom grips here. Please tell what they are made of. Feel free to post other styles of custom grips also. Which ever flavor you decide on, I highly recommend some palm swell. These are Rob Rowen Dall sheep grips on my 500L from a Ram I killed in the Brooks Range Range here in Alaska. A couple other guys here have some grips from the same horn. I sent Rob the horn, the gun and a tracing of my hand. They are perfect. Black Micarta from LSCG on my 45 Colt BisHunter. I asked Zane if he could do some palm swell and they are... well... swell!! Very interesting and great looking grips. Thanks.

Average Maple gets kind of exotic with a touch of Amber added.

Average Maple gets kind of exotic with a touch of Amber added. Nothing average about that maple...nice curl...I like to use a little golden pecan stain on curly maple...curl soaks up stain differentially (much like end grain), so that when you sand, it really highlights the figure in the wood.

I love those holly grips. There's a few dozen holly trees I need to remove here on the property. I'm going to have to save some for some grips.
Of course that means I will have to get a few guns to put them on. Like a blued Redhawk 45 that I know about. And a 17 that's at the same place, since I don't have a 22lr revolver.
