Years ago an aspiring grip maker from Lone Star Custom Grips had a raffle on this sight and I won. It's how they do things, give you the first one for free then just keep setting the hook once you bite!

You want odd? Another couple of "interesting" experiments that really went no further. Dog chews from the feed store. Both cow horn and cow hoof. The horn is tough to flatten enough and is thin so it must have a backing. That is what the red fiberglass stuff is in the picture. Really only suitable for Ruger insert panels but I also got the one set of J frame S&W shown. Panels in the SP101 is the only red horn I found so kinda fun. Did I say cow hoof? Who knew it was a nice material ? Looks a lot like horn but translucent amber. Sadly too small to get a decent piece to work with so it goes on Derringers.

Many beautiful grips and guns on this thread. Glad it was expanded to include all custom grips. I’ll add a couple of elk grips. I had to add liner material to the Blackhawk grips to make them thick enough. imgur.com/a/ACIuyOs

How about some Mammoth Ivory? <a href="https://postimg.cc/VJtw5m8H" target="_blank"><img src="https://i.postimg.cc/2ScScSXm/E39B776D-FFC3-4F49-8999-7362AFD25A67.webp" alt="E39B776D-FFC3-4F49-8999-7362AFD25A67"/></a> Or maybe Mongolian Stag? My favorite is still Desert Ironwood. These and the ones on the engraved Old Army are Presentation Desert Ironwood from Chig’s Grips

Guess it come from years of doing knife handles where it is kind of an upscale option. Some natural materials are quite pithy in the middle and a liner gives a good solid base save the escutcheons from pulling thru. On many double actions I find them to be a great "work around" for the intricate inletting I'm not tooled up for. No good from behind pictures but you can still see them cuz I like contrasting colors. Usually red or black.

My wife wants one but doesn’t like the large grip that come on them and yours would be perfect for her. PM me about a set of you are willing Ronnie

Needmostuff what is that Smith? That's flat awesome. KR uses some red spacers on his knives and no one says don't do that.
